Medical Teams International responds to the crisis in Ukraine and supports the needs of the affected population. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) is essential in the design and implementation of Medical Teams International programs. The primary role of the MEAL Assistant is to support operational technical and program staff to deliver high quality MEAL at the field level and will include travel to event venues. The position provides data collection, analysis and support in the areas of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and training in accordance with health team program standards, donor recommendations and best practices in the humanitarian sector to ensure high quality health programming. Working closely with the MEAL Specialist and field staff, the MEAL Assistant will implement effective MEAL systems and data collection tools; collect data using qualitative and quantitative methods; and supports data entry, cleaning, and analysis. Proficiency in English and the ability to explain MEAL processes in English and Ukrainian are required for this position.

Requirements:

  • Required minimum Bachelor's degree in statistics, social sciences, information technology or related field
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in data management and data analysis. Experience with an NGO is preferred.
  • Experience in an English-speaking workplace is an added advantage
  • Experience in a medical facility and with HIS/HMIS is an added advantage
  • Experience with international non-governmental organizations is an added advantage

KNOWLEDGE

  • Basic knowledge of data management

SKILLS

  • Professional command of English and Ukrainian languages
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to create basic reports and basic data visualization; such as PowerBI, R and Kobo

  • This job encourages employees to work in a team across mby the Medical Teams office in the Mykolaiv region, as far as work allows, providing space for collaboration and learning
  • Clothes should match the context and use the ID number of the medical team during working hours
  • Requires trips to villages, shelters and other places of work

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and evaluation (ME)
  • Support M&E processes, methodologies and tools for planning, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and training in accordance with Medical Teams policies and standards.
  • Maintains monitoring and evaluation plans, baseline and final survey reports as required by the MEAL specialist.
  • Understands and formulates M&E plans and data collection methods for English-speaking and Ukrainian-speaking staff.
  • Monitoring, analyzing and summarizing data collected during surveys and project activities.
  • Conducts interviews with beneficiaries, focus group discussions and visits to verify quality improvement at project sites in accordance with program requirements.
  • Trains field staff in best management practices data.
  • Collects data from various teams into donor and cluster reports such as ActivityInfo.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the MEAL Specialist in conducting grant quality assessments services.
  • Monitors and reports on feedback tools and liaises with staff to respond to feedback and complaints to ensure an effective grievance, accountability and response mechanism.
  • Ensures secure storage of data tools and ensures confidentiality of patient data in accordance with acceptable data protection guidelines.
  • Ensures regular progress reports and technical reports on MMU activities, monitoring compliance with international, national and medical team standards.
  • Ensure the safety of program participants and staff by fostering an environment of awareness and compliance with the provisions of the Medical Team Code of Conduct on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Violence, Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults, and Harassment-Free Workplace Policy. Staff will remain alert and sensitive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, will have the relevant knowledge and skills to enable you to promote sound safeguarding practices, understand child and adult safeguarding policies and procedures and behave in accordance with safeguarding policies.

Training

  • Supports the collection of success stories, case studies and photos of knowledge management activities.

  • Analyzes and regularlybut reports on trends and community feedback.
