We are seeking a passionate, adaptive, hard-working Mathematician/Game Designer ready to apply their skills in this fast-paced creative industry, with an emphasis on maintaining and designing best-in-class gaming experiences. This position will work directly with our online studio in the Pacific time zone and support studios in Manchester and Belgrade.
Desirable requirements:
— 5+ years’ experience in the field using probability;
— Background in advanced probability, dynamical systems, dynamic programming, or graph theory is a plus;
— Extensive experience with mathematical model-building;
— Ability to build and maintain working relationships;
— Familiar with and interested in gambling games;
Functions:
— Collaborate with producers, artists, engineers, and others throughout development,across all our online studios;
— Support conversions of highly rated IGT land-based titles to compelling online experiences;
— Create game math for original games and provide it in XML form for originals and ports of land-based games to engineers;
— Test mathematical outcomes to ensure quality and that accurate calculations are achieved (through Excel, programming, and other various proprietary tools);
— Employ meticulous attention to detail to achieve optimal designs for mathematical documentation, including math models, game logic, PAR sheets, and customer-facing communication;
— Actively work on multiple projects concurrently, as each Mathematician works on multiple games in tandem, at various stages of completion;
— Create prototypes to demonstrate the viability of innovative mechanics;
— Extensively play test all games in studio development with detailed verbal or written feedback around all aspects of the player experience: math, art, sound, messaging, game pacing and user interface;
— Analyze performance data from the marketplace to help identify future game mechanics and industry trends;
— Maintain active field research, analysis, and industry knowledge to clearly understand and convey player profiles to develop new features and products;
— Collaborate with other designers and mathematicians to brainstorm new concepts, create math and prototypes, keep our game characteristics database up to date, peer review documentation, and improve our templates and processes;
— Pitch innovative ideas and submit patent applications.
