DRB has existed in Ukraine since 2014. At the moment, more than 700 employees work in the DRB in total on the territory of Ukraine. In 2024, the DRB will continue to significantly expand to implement emergency response in the social and legal protection, livelihoods, housing reconstruction and humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining) sectors, providing direct support to responsible individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and as well as their partners.

DRB is currently looking for a highly qualifiedLeading specialist in social and legal protection ( Legal analyst)to work in our office in Kyiv.

General objectives of the position:

You will conduct legal research , analysis and advocacy on issues affecting the lives of the conflict-affected population. Your duties will also include preparation of legal materials, organization of discussions and participation in advocacy initiatives. The position involves traveling to field locations and working on the content of the DRB monthly legal bulletins and the content of the DRB Digital Legal Platform.

Your main responsibilities will be

Research and analysis:

  • Conducting research and analysis of legislation and practices related to the work of the DRB.
  • Preparation of legal materials, such as position papers and information notes.
  • Organization and holding of discussions and workshops on legal issues.
  • >
  • Participation in the preparation of reports and legal bulletins of the DRB.
  • Conducting training on legal issues for lawyers and other interested parties.
  • Development of reports and analytical tools related to the rights of IDPs, housing and property rights and responding to gender-based violence.

Coordination and advocacy:

  • Collaboration with field lawyers on pilot cases and strategic litigation.
  • Participation in advocacy meetings and working groups.
  • Stakeholder engagement, including international humanitarian organizations, state institutions and the public sector.
  • Representation of the DRB at various forums and advocacy of the interests of vulnerable population groups.

Additional duties:

  • Providing legal support to other units of the DRB.

About you:

To be successful in the position of Legal Analyst, we expect you to have at least 2 years of experience in the preparation of legal research and analysis, preferably in in the field of the rights of IDPs, housing and property rights, responding to gender-based violence or humanitarian aid in Ukraine.

In addition, we also expect the following from you:

  • Higher education in the field of law or a related field; additional education or specialization is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of the Ukrainian legal system, skills in preparing reports and presentations.
  • li>Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian/Russian; knowledge of the English language at an above average level.

We offer:

  • Duration of the contract: 12 months, with a trial period of 3 months.
  • Place of work: Kyiv.
  • Start date: as soon as possible.
  • Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Employment Conditions of the Representation of the Danish Council for Refugees in Ukraine.
