General Job Information< /strong>
Under the overall leadership of the Emergency Assistance Programs Manager, the Project's Lead Education Specialist provides support to the program department, ensures the implementation of programs to increase access to education in the region, coordinates the work of engineers, specialists and program assistants . Works closely with specialists from other aid sectors and the program administrator. Responsible for the implementation of programs in Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.
Description of general duties
Internal relations :
- Manages education staff in Ukraine who are responsible for educational activities – this will likely include education sector staff and administrators. Provides day-to-day support, assigns tasks, monitors progress in accordance with work plans.
- Collaborates with procurement, logistics, finance department.
- Together with country management, regional management and technical education manager develops an education sector strategy for Ukraine that is aligned with the global education strategy and key PIN policies.
External relations:
- Active represents the PIN as necessary at relevant cluster (or working group) meetings and other coordination forums, fostering strong and productive working relationships with key stakeholders in the education sector. Together with the technical head of education, leads technical working groups where opportunities allow.
- Maintains communication with field teams, partner NGOs and other relevant external participants (educational cluster and relevant working groups, special coordination forums) regarding new humanitarian needs and dynamics of conflicts related to education management bodies and the sectorom in general, and, if necessary, alerts the line manager about the needs and opportunities for assistance.
Characteristic duties and responsibilities
- Develops the project implementation plan and subsequently monitors its implementation.
- Responsible for the following activities: 1) restoration of educational institutions, creation of digital-learning centers; 2) improvement of qualifications of participants in the educational process; 3) psychosocial support of participants in the educational process.
- Develops a methodology for local facilitators.
- Manages the program budget.
- Coordinates work with consortium partners and other interested parties.
- Responsible for education sector reporting and archiving.
Required experience and qualifications strong>
- Master's degree and proven experience in the education sector, ideally in the field of emergency education
- At least 3 years of work in the education system (school, college, university)
- Experience of working in complex and unstable environments (preferred)
- Understanding the educational context in Ukraine and willingness to work in the field
- Proven ability to coordinate work with diverse staff groups, stakeholders and local authorities, building and maintaining good relationships
- Demonstrated patience, enthusiasm and strong interpersonal skills with attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively with team members
- < span style="font-style: normal; font-weight: 400">Proven knowledge and respect for key humanitarian principles
- Experience in facilitating and/or conducting training
- Computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel) and ability to type in English
- Professional command of the English language (required)
- Ability to work in a team and willingness to learn
