In 2024, the DRB will continue to significantly expand to implement emergency response in the social and legal protection, livelihoods, housing reconstruction and humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining) sectors, providing direct support to responsible individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and as well as their partners. DRB will continue to develop long-term solutions, adapting them to the changing situation.
DRB is currently looking for a highly qualified Leading Specialist of peacebuilding, who will join our team in Kyiv.
General objectives of the position:
The DRB's approach to peacebuilding in the context of Ukraine is not to participate in interstate peace negotiations, and instead aims to contribute to the development of conflict resolution structures, peaceful models of behavior and improvement of living conditions in Ukrainian communities at various levels. DRB also plans to integrate conflict-sensitive issues into its mission in Ukraine.
The Department of Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (HDP) is looking for an energetic person for the position of Lead Peacebuilding Specialist for program activities in Ukraine. The leading specialist will support the development and implementation of measures aimed at strengthening peace and social cohesion, will conduct research related to peacebuilding, and will also assist in the development of conflict analysis and the implementation of conflict sensitivity assessments in DRC. The lead specialist will also participate in the preparation of proposals and reports for peacebuilding projects and provide support in monitoring and evaluation.
The position is also expected to support and advise relevant staff in the regional offices (requiring work trips to places, for example, to Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Mykolaiv).
Your main responsibilities will be:
Conflict analysis and conflict sensitivity
- Support the development of conflict analysis and the implementation of its results in practice.< /li>
- Support the planning, development and implementation of conflict sensitivity assessments within the mission. Based on the results of the evaluations, provide recommendations to the DRB teams regarding the consideration of conflict-sensitive issues in their activities.
- Support the development of trainings and seminars on peacebuilding, conflict management/conflict resolution, and conflict-sensitive issues formission staff, partners and other relevant external actors.
Program development
- Provide recommendations on peacebuilding program development to management HDP based on conflict analysis.
- In close cooperation with the Manager of the Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding Program, the Head of the Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding Program and other sectors of the DRB, participate in the development of the Peacebuilding Strategy.
- Implement monitoring of trends and practices in the sector from the perspective of wider communities in the field of peacebuilding, development of social cohesion and dialogue/mediation.
- Provide quality information on peacebuilding issues for the development of project proposals, in coordination with heads of other sectors of the DRB, others by HDP specialists and the Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding Program Manager.
- In close cooperation with the DRB Partnership Team, support the mapping of local, regional and national organizations in the field of peacebuilding whose vision, mission and values coincide with DRB and have potential for partnership.
- Support the development and implementation of assessments, studies, reviews and analyzes in close coordination with HDP leaders and other sectors.
Project management >
- Coordinate the implementation of peacebuilding initiatives; collaborate with program teams and partners to ensure timely and effective delivery of project deliverables.
- Work closely with the HDP team and the Data Monitoring and Evaluation (MEAL) and Information Management (IM) teams to monitor and ensure credible , based on best practice monitoring and reporting of program activities.
- Support the Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding Program Manager in monitoring financial commitments and expenditures of peacebuilding projects in accordance with budgets and provide timely feedback on the control of implementation of the budget.
Other
- Ensure compliance with the AGD Policy on Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) and AGD minimum standards in program activities.
- Ensure compliance with a policy of zero tolerance for sexual exploitation and violence.
- Perform other relevant tasks as requested and in agreement with the program manager.

About you:To be successful in this role, we expect you to have at least 3 years of experience work in the field of peacebuilding, development of social cohesion, conflict analysis, program activities in the field of conflict management and higher education in the field of political science, international development, peace research and conflicts or in another relevant field.

- Experience in the field of peacebuilding and staff training on social cohesion and peacebuilding, as well as conflict management, mediation and dialogue facilitation.
- Experience of working with national partners in social cohesion initiatives.
- Practical trainings or courses on peacebuilding, conflict management, mediation and dialogue facilitation.
