DRB has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, DRB already has more than 700 employees in Ukraine and will continue to expand significantly in 2024, for rapid response to emergency situations in the sectors of social protection, livelihoods, housing and non-product kits, humanitarian demining and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining), through direct intervention and support of authorized persons and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The DRBs will continue to implement their set of long-term solutions to address challenges in the context of changing circumstances.

DRB is currently looking for a highly qualified Leading specialist in information technologies (Software Developer) to work in our office in Kyiv .

About the work:

DRB in Ukraine is developing a web application designed to manage program data throughout the country. The program processes a large and complex data set, derived primarily from about 100 KoboToolbox forms that are automatically stored in a SQL database, along with data from external APIs. The program contains various components to update, transform, display and analyze this data set. It ensures data protection by limiting access to authorized persons, simplifying activity tracking, analysis and reporting. This link demonstrates a feature developed in the program: . The purpose of the Leading Specialist in Information Technologies (Software Developer) is to support the development of this program.

This position focuses on activities throughout the country and ensures compliance with DRB procedures and instructions within the country. The position contributes to the development of country strategies that translate into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The position provides support and/or technical direction to in-country operations while overseeing in-country activities.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Implementing features and user interfaces such as dashboards and databases.
  • Building efficient and reusable external systems that manage complex web applications.
  • Collaborating with other departments to improve the product based on their feedback.
  • Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.
  • Scripting to update or migrate an existing dataset to ensure consistency.
  • Conducting data analysis and identifying relevant changes, trends and patterns, providing valuable information for informed decision making.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have at least 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.

In addition, we expect you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree inin engineering, computer science in a relevant field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Experience with Typescript, including concepts such as generic, asynchronous, and functional programming.
  • Experience with React.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and front-end performance optimization.
  • High level of command of the English language.

  • Collaboration: Engaging relevant parties and encouraging them to provide feedback.
  • Initiative: Personal control of the situation and taking the initiative, with a simultaneous desire for innovation.
  • Communication: Ability to listen and speak effectively and honestly.

We offer:

  • Contract: indefinite after successful completion of initial 3 month trial period .
  • Level: G - non-management
  • Salary and conditions according to the Conditions of Employment of the Danish Refugee Council's national staff.
