DRB is currently looking for a Junior specialist of the social and legal protection project in Kharkiv.

About this position:

Under the leadership of the project team leader, the junior project specialist in social and legal protection will support the provision of quality protection measures to vulnerable individuals and communities affected by the conflict in the Kharkiv region. This role includes conducting needs assessments, developing action plans, implementing safe diversions, and providing financial or material assistance to reduce protection risks. This role will require working closely with other DRB departments and external partners to provide timely, efficient and customer-centric support while maintaining high standards of confidentiality, professionalism and commitment to humanitarian principles.

Your primary duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provide case management services to vulnerable population groups, including assessing the client's needs, developing an action plan, sharing information and redirecting them to other service providers, as well as providing follow-up support to the client.
  • Provide monetary and non-monetary assistance to vulnerable population groups to reduce their social and legal protection risks.
  • Provide targeted individual assistance (i.e. targeted cash payments) to people directly or indirectly affected by landmine or ERW accidents, helping to improve their socio-economic situation.
  • Ensure complete and secure storage of case management related documents, including referral forms and consent forms.
  • Carry out service mapping to identify available services in community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant government and non-government service providers to ensure safe referrals.
  • Implement programmatic activities related to protection monitoring, such as focus group discussions, household surveys and key informant interviews.
  • Coordinate with other DRC departments to facilitate referrals and information sharing.

?About the candidate

To successfully perform the duties of this position, we expect you to have at least 1 year of experience in a social, legal or humanitarian field. Sustained interest in or experience of working with the population, victimsaway from conflict, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with people under stress. You must have excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong sense of personal integrity and a commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.

?Requirements?

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with vulnerable populations, colleagues and stakeholders from various walks of life;
  • High analytical and reporting skills;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task;
  • Strong sense of personal integrity and understanding of privacy and ethics;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, and the Windows operating system;
  • Knowledge of the Ukrainian language;
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, law or other related fields.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the social or humanitarian sphere;
  • Awareness of working with communities, implementing social support activities, conducting educational sessions and providing services to vulnerable categories of the population.
  • Knowledge of the English language at a basic level.?
