DRB is currently looking for a junior protection specialist/project position in Kharkiv.

About this position

Under the supervision of the project team leader in psychosocial support, the junior specialist of the psychosocial support project will help ensure the quality of activities for vulnerable groups and the conflict-affected population in Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. This role includes conducting needs assessments, developing action plans, providing safe referrals. The Junior Security Specialist will organize and deliver information sessions and the role will require working closely with other DRB departments and external partners to provide timely, efficient and customer-focused support while maintaining high standards of confidentiality, professionalism and commitment to humanitarian principles.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provide structured group psychological support sessions to promote mutual support, resilience, psychological well-being and the development of positive coping strategies among target groups, including sessions for women and girls.
  • Develop and facilitate information sessions on psychosocial and gender-based violence (GBV), including stress management, emotional regulation, available mental health and GBV protection services, coping skills and gender-sensitive violence prevention strategies.
  • Provide case management services for victims of GBV in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and relevant guidelines, including interagency GBV case management standards.
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate services in coordination with other service providers such as health professionals, social workers, legal and psychosocial services according to interagency referral protocols.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and assessment of psychosocial needs and specific needs of women and girls, including consultations with target groups and interviews with key stakeholders, to ensure that services meet the needs of communities.
  • Ensure appropriate data documentation and continuous updating of the service mapping system in accordance with case management recommendations from the PSP, maintaining strict confidentiality, data security and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Bring inpart in the development and constant updating of a service mapping system with detailed information about available services and assistance in the area of operation of the DRB, with a special focus on support services in the field of mental health and protection from GHG. to successfully fulfill the duties of this position, we expect you to have at least 1 year of experience in the psychological field, preferably working in an NGO (in the implementation of humanitarian, social, psychological programs, or in the environment for women and girls). A strong interest in or experience working with conflict-affected populations and the ability to communicate effectively with people under stress. You must have excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong sense of personal integrity and a commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.

    Requirements

    Certified professional in the field psychology.

    • Commitment to gender equality and interest in working in the field of prevention and response to gender-based violence against women and girls;
    • Ability to speak freely on sensitive topics and work with people under stress;
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with vulnerable populations, colleagues and stakeholders from various walks of life;
    • Strong sense of personal integrity and understanding of privacy and ethics principles;
    • Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, and the Windows operating system;
    • Knowledge of the Ukrainian language;
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, psychological counseling, psychology or other related fields.

    Desirable:

    • Experience in humanitarian work;
    • Knowledge of programs for the protection of women's rights and empowerment;
    • Prior experience of working in communities, implementing measures for psychosocial support, holding information sessions and providing services to vulnerable populations;
    • A basic level of English.
