DRB has existed in Ukraine since 2014. At the moment, more than 700 employees work in the DRB in total on the territory of Ukraine. In 2024, the DRB will continue to significantly expand to implement emergency response in the sectors of social and legal protection, economic development, housing reconstruction and resettlement, and humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining), providing direct support to responsible individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and as well as their partners. The DRB will further develop long-term solutions, adapting them to the changing situation.

General objectives positions:

DRB is currently looking for a juniorspecialist in social and legal protection for his activities in the city of Mykolaiv. This position will report to the head of the department group of social and legal protection.

The junior specialist in social and legal protection is part of the social and legal protection team of the DRB and works under the direction and supervision the head of the social and legal protection group and the social and legal protection manager. The junior social-legal protection specialist supports the social-legal protection team leader and the social-legal protection manager in the timely and high-quality implementation of protection measures. This position is based in Mykolaiv with frequent trips to Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

Your main responsibilities will be:

    < li>Implement program activities related to monitoring activities in the field of social and legal protection
  • Carry out service mapping to identify available services in communities. Establish and maintain relationships with relevant government and non-government service providers to provide safe referrals.
  • Implement protection measures, including, but not limited to, working with local authorities, implementing community initiatives, building community capacity, assisting victims of conflict to the population;
  • Identification of risks in the field of social and legal protection and monitoring needs in certain areas and communication with the leading specialist in social and legal protection issues regarding such risks and needs. Ensuring the collection of quantitative and qualitative information and data, using various social and legal protection monitoring tools.
  • Organize and conduct information and educational activities, including the dissemination of key messages, distribution of information materials and conductinginformation sessions adapted to the needs identified during monitoring in the field of social and legal protection.
  • Conduct regular meetings of initiative groups/networks at the community level and assist in the development of "community action plans" to solve problems in the field of social - legal protection. Building the capacity of local actors and key community members on key issues such as mainstreaming social and legal protection issues and safe diversions.
  • Contribute to improving the quality of community-based DRR activities by effectively identifying and coordinating work with stakeholders, key respondents and community members.
  • Engage and build strong relationships with communities through consistent engagement with community structures and culturally sensitive and dignified approaches. Support community-level structures by facilitating constructive group dialogue and mentoring participants to self-identify protection issues affecting their communities.
  • Establish and maintain coordination with local authorities, local and international NGOs when necessary ;
  • Coordinate work with other departments of the DRB with the purpose of facilitating referral and information exchange.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the head of the social and legal protection team and/ or social protection manager relevant to the achievement of social protection objectives.

In order to be successful in the role of Junior specialist in social and legal protection, we are expecting:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (eg social sciences, international relations, humanities) or equivalent work experience.
  • Candidates with no experience of working with vulnerable groups or case management but interested in this area are welcome to apply as on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Ability to speak on sensitive topics and work with people, who are in a difficult situation.
  • Experience with social work is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with vulnerable individuals, staff and stakeholders with diverse experience.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities.
  • High level of personal integrity and understanding of privacy and ethics.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows operating systems.
  • Knowledge of the Ukrainian language is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of the English language is desirable, but optional.
