This position will report to the head of the social and legal protection department and the head of the DRB office in the city of Sloviansk.

General purpose of the role:

Under the supervision of the Protection Specialist, the Protection Assistant will carry out case management with vulnerable persons. Case management is a structured form of support aimed at providing vulnerable persons in need of assistance, emotional support and assistance in getting access to services and information He/she will work closely with communities, civil society organizations (CSOs) and government services, carry out service mapping and share information about available services He/she will be based in the Slovyansk office as well will work on the ground in the Donetsk region.

Candidates with no experience working with vulnerable groups or in case management but interested in this area are welcome to apply as training will be provided on workplace.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Under the leadership of the head of the social and legal protection department and the head of the DRB office in the city of Sloviansk, the social and legal protection assistant will:

  • Provide case management services to vulnerable individuals, including conducting client needs assessments, developing action plans, sharing information and referrals to other service providers, and conducting client follow-up.
  • < li>Complete and ensure safe storage of documents required for case management, including referral form and consent form.
  • Refer clients to other service providers, including medical, legal, shelter, and support clients as needed in advocating their needs before other services.
  • Accompany the client to facilitate their access to services when necessary.
  • Participate in meetings with representatives of other services when necessary.
  • Provide monetary or in-kind assistance vulnerable people to reduce their protection risks.
  • Carry out service mapping to identify available services in the community. Establish and maintain relationships with relevant government and non-government service providers to support safe diversion.
  • Conduct outreach activities with stakeholders to share information about case management services provided by DRB and other topics, related to social and legal protection information.
  • Coordinate work with other DRB departments to facilitate referral and information sharing.
  • Any other duties that may be appointed by the head of the department of social and legal protection and/or the manager of social and legal protection, relevant to the achievement of the goals of social and legal protection.

About you:

To be successful in this position, we expect you to have the ability to talk about sensitive topics and work with people in difficult situations. In addition, we also expect:

  • Acquaintance with social work, case management, counseling is desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with vulnerable individuals, employees and stakeholders with diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities.
  • High level of personal integrity and understanding of privacy and ethics.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows operating systems.

  • Knowledge of the Ukrainian and Russian languages ​​is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of the English language is desirable, but optional.
