The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization that promotes and supports long-term solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide. 

DRB is currently looking for a Junior Security Specialist, to join our team in the city of Mykolaiv.

General purpose of the role:

As a Junior Security Officer, you will provide technical support to the security team, field office and program teams on all DRB security planning policies, procedures and standards. You will report directly to the Security Team Leader. You will maintain relevant safety documentation, data and records (attendance lists, training register, incident tracking, maps, etc.).

Your main duties in the role will be:

  • Provide briefings and inform the security team about changes in security context.
  • Assess the potential impact of changes in the security context on DRB program activities.
  • Conduct pre- and post-arrival training for new employees (national and international).
  • Provide support in the management of the DRB security information portal (SharePoint), ensuring it is up-to-date, relevant and accessible to a wide range of users.
  • Provide technical support to the security team, ensure the ability to maintain and maintain all normal work processes for the DRB Southern Regional Office. 
  • Perform security related procurement for office space, guest houses, security needs of field teams and vehicle fleet of the entire regional office including Humanitarian Demining Unit. 
  • Ensure timely review, proper preservation and storage of security-related resources.  
  • Act as procurement coordinator for all necessary equipment, supplies and other security related resources.
  • Maintain all security/communication equipment, review and update all security documentation, database, trackers, lists related to the security department in the DRB Southern Regional Office.

About you:

To be successful in this position, we expect you to have at least 1 year of experience in security, safety or related fields, preferably in an international non-governmental organization (INGO).

We also expect the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in security or any other related field industry.

  • Proven ability to determine priorities, executivemanage tasks and meet deadlines under stressful conditions.

  • Digital literacy: confident command of MS Office programs, including Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in graphics, design, or data visualization tools preferred.

  • Proven ability to work effectively under supervision, learn, and report.

  • Excellent relationship-building, interpersonal skills, and the ability to represent the DRB in a dignified manner.

Duration of the contract: 3-month trial period, with the possibility continuation depending on funding and quality of work performed

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Conditions of Employment of the staff of the Danish Refugee Council in Ukraine.
