We bring integrity and exceptional customer service to every project we undertake.Position Summary:We are seeking an accomplished Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or Automation Engineer with a broad range of experience and technical proficiency. The primary responsibility will be performing pre-screening interviews (via Zoom) with Instrumentation Specialists/Technicians and Electrical Technicians to determine their level of knowledge and skill. This role also involves generating detailed findings, identifying knowledge gaps, and providing mentorship for new hires.Key Responsibilities:Candidate Evaluation:Conduct comprehensive pre-screening interviews (via Zoom) of I&E personnel to assess their foundational and advanced technical knowledge.Create detailed reports to the I&C Manager outlining each candidate’s strengths and areas needing additional training.Mentorship & Training:Provide remote training sessions for new employees, focusing on best practices in instrumentation and electrical work.Develop learning plans and materials to bridge skill gaps in areas such as instrumentation, SIS, DCS, and PLC systems.Technical Expertise:Instrumentation KnowledgeFlow: Ultrasonic (Doppler, transit-time), magnetic, Coriolis, vortex, variable area, thermal mass, turbine, and DP-based meters.Level: Radar (free-space, guided wave), magnetostrictive, displacer transmitters, capacitance, ultrasonic, float-based, and DP level measurement devices.Pressure: Transmitters, switches (electronic/pneumatic), differential pressure cells, gauges.Temperature: RTDs, thermocouples, thermowells, infrared sensors, bimetallic thermometers, and fiber-optic temperature systems.Analytical: pH, conductivity, oxygen, moisture/dew point, gas analyzers, CEMS, and process gas chromatographs.Vibration: Accelerometers, velocity probes, eddy-current displacement sensors, and advanced vibration analyzers for rotating equipment.Final Control Elements: Rotary, butterfly, globe, gate, and ball valves, along with solenoids, limit switches, position transmitters, I/P converters, positioners, and volume tanks.Control Systems (SIS, DCS, and PLC)Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS):Familiarity with SIS methodologies (e.g., SIL determination, IEC 61511 guidelines).Experience in designing, installing, and/or testing Instrumented Protective Functions (IPF).Distributed Control Systems (DCS):Experience with configuring, programming, and troubleshooting DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell, Yokogawa).Ability to interpret and modify control narratives and functional design specifications.Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC):Proficiency with major PLC hardware and software (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider).Experience developing and reviewing PLC ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text.Electrical Motors & Motor Controls:Knowledgeof motor types (induction, synchronous, DC), motor sizing, starter configurations, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and motor protection devices.Experience with Motor Control Centers (MCC), contactors, overload relays, and wiring diagrams.Power Distribution & Transformers:Familiarity with transformer theory, winding connections, voltage regulation, cooling methods, and protection schemes.Ability to interpret and implement one-line diagrams, understand load requirements, and size distribution components correctly.Protective Relays & Switchgear:Experience with SEL relays or similar protection relay systems, including configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.Knowledge of circuit breakers, disconnects, switchgear assemblies, and proper lockout/tagout procedures.Control Panels & Relays:Understanding of panel wiring, relay logic, PLC I/O interfacing, and interlock schemes.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and provide recommendations for system optimization.Documentation & StandardsInstrumentation Documentation:Ability to create and interpret loop diagrams, logic drawings, control narratives, and cause-and-effect matrices.Understanding of P&IDs, instrument datasheets, ISA symbols, and specification sheets.SIS-Specific Documentation:Experience with Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS) and SIL verification documentation.Preparation or review of test procedures (FAT/SAT) and compliance records.Industry Codes and Best Practices:Familiarity with relevant standards (ISA, IEC, NEC, NFPA, API).Education & Experience:Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, or a related technical field.Minimum: 4 years of progressive, hands-on experience with Instrumentation & Controls Systems or Electrical Engineering.Additional Requirements:Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.Flexible work schedule to accommodate different time zones and candidate availability.If you are an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or Automation Engineer who excels in the technical, documentation, and strategic aspects of the discipline—and you are eager to mentor others while shaping the next generation of I&E professionals—we invite you to apply.
