International Solidarity (SI) is an international humanitarian non-governmental organization that has been working for more than 40 years and helps the population affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters, providing the vital needs of food, water and shelter. In particular, SI is involved in the fight against diseases related to unsafe water, which is one of the leading causes of death in the world. SI provides expertise in access to drinking water, improved sanitation and hygiene, and food security and livelihoods. With a presence in approximately twenty countries, SI teams - a total of 2,000 people, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent headquarters staff and volunteers - work with professionalism and dedication while respecting culture.

POSITION DESCRIPTION


Under the direction of the Logistics Specialist, the Information Technology Specialist provides mission-wide IT support. He/she is the contact person for IT administration (network, e-mail addresses, support), asset and data management.


REQUIREMENTS'LANGUAGES:


Internet access:

  • Conduct technical analysis of service providers' proposals to confirm the technical side procurement
  • Ensure Internet access for authorized users
  • Perform network capacity increase for the mission
  • Ensure communication with providers is maintained


Configure workstations:

  • Configure new mission workstations according to standards set by “International Solidarity” before handover to their user (desktop and laptop)
  • Ensure that all computers are using a standard operating system and software
  • Ensure that IT equipment is protected (uninterruptible power supply, stabilizer, etc.)
  • Manage accountinge-mail records and software licenses for the mission
  • Provide computer setup support (email, software, basic maintenance) directly to the user at the coordination level and at the base level


Equipment maintenance:

  • Provide basic maintenance technical support to users and IT specialists / logisticians, including maintenance software
  • Keep a list of faults and keep records of how they were resolved
  • With the prior approval of the immediate supervisor, contact the head office IT department to diagnose all requests to return IT equipment to headquarters for after-sales service and verify this with the head office IT department
  • Verify that the equipment to be returned to the head office is safe packaged and accompanied by technical support documentation: fault description form, etc.
  • Provide tailored backups for all users (external hard drives, NAS...)


IT equipment maintenance:

  • Together with the logistics specialist\logistics managers, monitor computer upgrades in missions
  • Conduct regular inventory of IT equipment and report it to logistics specialist
  • Advise on proper use of IT equipment
  • Ensure control over software licenses, email account, sim cards and contact list at mission level


Support users:

  • Provide technical support to coordination and regional offices
  • Make technical visits to regional offices, if necessary or at the request of the logistics coordinator
  • If necessary, organize trainings on the use of IT equipment of users (use, maintenance)


Management equipment:

  • Determine the need for supply of spare parts for network equipment and consumables (printer cartridges, toner, etc.)
  • Advise on ICT equipment standards for the mission (recommended brand, model...)
  • Provide support for technical validation of suppliers
  • Check IT subscription bills and notify the manager of any discrepancies
  • Exercise control over mission IT equipment, assign logistics code and conduct proper inventory


Logistics specialist support:

  • Make online train ticket reservations for national and foreign personnel, as well as draw up a movement plan
  • Be a contact person for minor malfunctions in the field of premises management
  • If necessary, provide support to the logistics specialist in accommodation management


REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES:

Education:Higher education in the field of information/computer technologiesy

Experience: Preferably 2-3 years of experience in information technologies, experience working in a humanitarian organization will be an advantage

Knowledge of languages: Fluency in Ukrainian, English - B2

IT knowledge: User administration, configuration of workstations (Windows, Microsoft 365), network management (LAN/WAN, configuration Wi-Fi, Starlink), basic maintenance of laptops and telecommunication equipment

Personal qualities: Ability to solve problem situations, independence, good communication skills, stress resistance, adaptability


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Place of work: office at: Kyiv, st. Olesya Honchara, bldg. 57B. Possible business trips to Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Kherson regions. (optional)

Contract: fixed-term employment contract (according to Ukrainian legislation)

Type of employment: full-time

Salary: 1240 EUR gross (the amount is specified before taxation, paid in hryvnias, according to the monthly exchange rate of the European Commission bank)

Additional: vacation 31 calendar days, additional paid family leave, life insurance.

Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of ​​food security and livelihoods. DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION 

 

Under the logistic assistant operations, the logistic IT officer is the focal point for IT support on the mission.

S/he is the entry point with IT department for technical IT administration (network, e-mail address, support…), assets and data management.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Internet Access: 

  • Perform technical analysis of service provider offers to validate the technical side of procurement
  • Ensure that authorized users have internet access
  • Perform the sizing of bandwidth needs through the mission
  • Ensure regular contacts with providers


Workstation configuration:

  • Configure new mission workstations respecting the standards set by Solidarites International before handing out to a user (Desktop and Laptop) 
  • Check that every computer uses the standard operating system and software 
  • Check that sensitive IT materials are protected (uninterruptible power supply, stabiliser, etc.) 
  • Manage email accounts and software licences at mission level 
  • Provide support in computer configuration (e-mail, software installing, basic maintenance) directly to user at coordination level or at base level 

 

Maintenance of equipment:

  • Provide user and IT officers / logisticians with technical support on basic maintenance, including maintenance on software 
  • Compile a list of breakdowns and keep records of how they were resolved for reference
  • With the prior approval from line manager, contact the Headquarter IT Department service for Carry out a diagnosis for all requests for IT equipment to be returned to HQ for after-sales service and verify with the Headquarter IT Department 
  • Check that equipment to be returned to HQ is securely packaged and accompanied by technical support documentation: breakdown form, etc.
  • Provide adapted backups mean to all user (external hard drives, NAS…)

 

IT equipment maintenance

  • Monitor that computers are updated on a regular basis together with log assistant & log managers
  • Carry out regular IT equipment inventory and inform the log assistant about it 
  • Advise on the correct use of IT equipment
  • Ensure the follow up of software licenses, email account, sim card & mission contact list


Users support:

  • Provide technical support to bases and sub-bases, in the form of a hotline
  • Carry out technical visits to bases and sub-bases when necessary or at the request of the logistics coordinator
  • Organize training sessions on use of IT equipment for users if necessary (use, maintenance) 

 

Management of equipment:

  • Identify the supply needs of spare parts for network equipment and consumables (printer cartridges, toner, etc.) 
  • Advise on ICT equipment standards for the mission (recommended brand, model…), according to SI standards
  • Support in supplier technical validation
  • Check the invoices of IT subscription and escalate any discrepancies to the manager
  • Follow up of the IT equipment of the mission, logistics code attribution and do proper inventories


Back up of logistic assistant:

  • Book train tickets for national staff and expatriates online, and compile the movement plan sent by bases and coordination
  • Serve as the focal point for managing premises during minor emergencies
  • When needed, support the log assistant with accommodations management 


PROFILE FORSAKEN

Studies: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Information Technology / Computer Science (or equivalent technical certification)

Experience: 2-3 years recommended as IT assistant, experience working at a humanitarian sector is an advantage

Language: Fluency in Ukrainian, English - B2

IT: User administration and workstation deployment and updgrade (Windows, Microsoft 365); network management (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi configuration, Starlink, routers and switches troubleshooting), IT equipment management and helpdesk support

Soft skills: Problem-solving, autonomy in field environments, communication and user support skills, ability to work under pressure, in an international environment and adapt to humanitarian contexts.
