The DRC has existed in Ukraine since 2014. At the moment, DRB has more than 800 employees working on the territory of Ukraine to implement emergency response in the sectors of social and legal protection, livelihoods, housing restoration and humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining), providing direct support to responsible persons and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as well as their partners. DRB will further develop long-term solutions, adapting them to the changing situation.
DRB is currently looking for a highly qualified Information Technology Specialist to join the team in Kyiv. Please note that this position involves office work.
General purpose of the role
Your responsibilities will include responsibility for the management, analysis and dissemination of data related to program activities and the population under the care of DRB to ensure reliable, quality and comprehensive information that contributes to the development of humanitarian assistance evidence-based.
Your main job responsibilities will be:
- Maintain and manage the online database of DRB beneficiaries.
- Implement functionality and user interfaces such as dashboards and databases.
- Develop efficient and reusable front-end systems to operate complex web applications.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve the product based on their feedback.
- Identify and fix performance and scalability issues.
- Develop scripts (based on TypeScript) to update or migrate existing data sets to ensure consistency.
- Perform data analysis, identify relevant variables, trends, and patterns to provide valuable analytical insights for making informed decisions.
- Supporting team leaders in the technical application of the database in cases where data entry is performed by program staff.
- Assisting program colleagues in case of technical difficulties or questions regarding the database and information management in general; conducting trainings for colleagues on the use of the database.
- Generating monitoring reports and performing backups; contribution to the formatting and development of documents related to the collected data.
- Conducting weekly data quality checks in the database with further informing the information management manager about problems or changes.
- Ensuring the consolidation of all information about the beneficiaries in a single up-to-date database; identifying missing data and interacting with team leaders to obtain it.
- Providing beneficiary lists and data for monitoring activities, including PDM and evaluation reports.
- Applying data management methods and procedures.
- li>According to DRB Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) on information management - keeping all data secure and confidential.
About you:
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have at least2 years of experience in software development in one or more languages programming. In addition, we also expect the following from you:
Required
- A college degree in information technology, information systems, statistics, social sciences, or a related field.
- Experience with TypeScript, including concepts such as generics, asynchronous, and functional programming.
- Knowledge of KoBo or other applications based on ODK.
- Experience with React.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and front-end performance optimization.
- Languages: high level of English; fluent in Ukrainian.
- Computer literacy: confident user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Proven skills in collecting, summarizing, analyzing and preparing reports with the ability to write clearly and concisely, as well as communicate effectively orally.
- Knowledge and skills in working with ArcGIS/ESRI software will be considered an advantage.
Desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of the data monitoring and evaluation cycle.
