Task description Within the delegated authority and under the supervision ofInformation Management Officer orhis/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Information Management Associate: • Supports UNOCHA and the United Nations system, aswell aspartner organizations toestablish and prepare data assets tofacilitate coordination of- and advocate for- the humanitarian response inUkraine, and delivery ofthe Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC); • Provides strategic data management advice for the development ofinformation products, including the design ofdata management processes, database schema, and data flows; • Supports strategic and operational decision-making bythe preparation and management ofrelated datasets onthe humanitarian situation and response; • Designs and maintains the structure ofdatabases and data system tooptimize storage, retrieval, and analysis ofdata. • Develops adatabase management system, with data warehouse capability and ETL processes for the development ofPower BIdashboards and other reporting tools. • Maintains documentation and metadata todescribe the meaning, origin, and context ofthe relevant data, facilitating its understanding and usability. • Maintains good relationships with the various entities topromote strong client engagement, data sharing and transparency; • Develops strong links with information management focal points inother organizations tohelp clusters toidentify their priority data management requirements and topromote coordination and data exchange among organizations; • Works closely with IMteam, UNOCHA staff and humanitarian partners topromote responsible data management practices and exchange; • Supports inmaintaining acatalogue ofdata assets and facilitates data accessibility; • Produces articles and presentations onUNV, UNVolunteer success stories; • Any other related tasks that may berequired orassigned bythe supervisor. Asanactive OCHA team member, efficient, timely, responsive, and client-friendly support rendered toOCHA and its beneficiaries inthe accomplishment ofher/his functions, including: • High-quality data assets and data management processes tosupport the preparation ofinformation products, including reports, snapshots, and other standalone info-graphics; • Design and setup ofadatabase management system for response monitoring, situational needs monitoring and other reference datasets tosupport the Humanitarian Programme Cycle; • Compliance ofdata management platforms and processes with IASC Data Responsibility Guidelines and other data privacy and security protocols; • Data and metadata documentation describing the meaning, origin, and usability; • Data assets are up-to-date, correct and accessible tointernal and external stakeholders; • End users are trained and instructed onhow tomaintain and access data assets; • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective issystematically applied, integrated and documented inall activities throughout the assignment; • Afinal statement ofachievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such asreporting onthe number ofvolunteers mobilized, activities participated inand capacities developed. Required experience 3years ofexperience inthe use ofdatabase systems, such asPostgreSQL, MySQLor Microsoft SQLServer, aswell asMicrosoft Office isrequired, including aworking knowledge ofSQL query language. • Proficient inthe use ofPower BIand DAXis desirable; • Experience inmanaging and/or maintaining database management systems isrequired; • Progressive responsible professional experience indata management, database design, setup ofdatabase management systems orrelated field preferably inhumanitarian and/or development context isdesirable; • Experience working with theUN orinternational organizations isdesirable.
