About the organization

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is a leading a UN agency in the field of development that works in approximately 170 countries and territories, helping to overcome poverty, reduce inequality and strengthen the resilience of societies.

In Ukraine, UNDP works in three areas:

  • democratic governance and social cohesion;

  • inclusive and sustainable economic recovery;

  • sustainable development of the environment and energy transition.

The position of Information Management Officer (Remote) is announced within the Area-Based Recovery (ABR) Framework, which supports the recovery of communities, the return of the population, increasing resilience and carrying out reforms in Ukraine.

Main duties

The information management specialist will work in the ABR team and report to the Monitoring, Reporting and Research Specialist. Main tasks:

  • Support of existing reporting systems (ABR Activity Monitoring System, IMRP and others):

    • advising colleagues on correct data entry;

    • monitoring the timeliness of data submission;

    • regular data quality checks, their cleaning and error correction;

    • basic administration systems.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of new reporting tools and systems as needed.

  • Maintain and update team dashboards (ABR Activity Monitoring, Community Profiling, Annual WG Survey, etc.) as well as secondary datasets in SharePoint for knowledge management purposes.

  • Participate in organizing, collecting and analyzing data for internal and partner team research ABR.

  • tables (pivot), diagrams of key indicators for monitoring and planning.

  • Development and configuration of online/offline data collection tools (e.g. KoboToolbox), in compliance with UNDP quality (QA) requirements in monitoring and evaluation.

  • Archiving and backup of databases, ensuring data security, performing basic database administration functions.

  • Conducting technical sessions and training for UNDP ABR staff and, if necessary, representatives of local authorities for data entry, analysis and visualization.

  • Participation in interdepartmental data management initiatives: exchange of information with authorities, other organizations and clusters, contribution to cross-sectoral dashboards and reports.

  • Documentation of urgaps, achievements and gaps for continuous improvement of information management processes in the ABR team.

  • Performance of other related tasks as assigned by the UNDP leadership.

Requirements for candidates

Education:

  • Master's degree in sociology, social sciences, statistics, computer sciences, management information, research, monitoring and evaluation or related field.

Professional experience:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in information management, data analysis, monitoring and evaluation and/or administration of databases / information systems.

  • Experience in supporting or administering data collection and reporting systems (creation, maintenance, improvement).

  • Experience in data cleaning, quality control and creation of dashboards / visualization tools.

  • Practical experience in preparing analytical and visual reports (graphs, tables, dashboards).

  • Familiarity with data collection tools (KoboToolbox or similar).

  • Experience in interdepartmental coordination, reporting or information exchange will be an advantage.

Technical skills:

  • Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, graphs, advanced formulas).

  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.

  • Desirable skills with Power Query, SQL or statistical packages (R, Stata, SPSS etc.).

  • Understanding the logic of monitoring frameworks and tracking indicators.

  • Desirable experience in the field of GIS and working with geodata.

Languages:

  • Ukrainian - fluent.

  • English - fluent (oral and written).


  • Work format: remote work from the territory of Ukraine, official attachment to the UNDP office in Kyiv.

  • Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of extension (not guaranteed; depends on funding, program needs and work results).

Financial compensation:

  • Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): USD 1,587 per month (equivalent in UAH) to cover housing, utilities and daily expenses. The amount includes Well-Being Differentials for Ukraine (hardship “E”).

  • One-time payment at the start: USD 400 (entry lump sum).

Social package:

  • Medical insurance for the UN Volunteer and eligible dependents (from the start date of the contract and approximately until one month after its completion).

  • Life insurance for the duration of the contract.

Vacations:

  • Annual leave: 2.5 days for each full month of the contract.

  • Study leave: up to 10 working days per 12 months (upon agreement with the manager).

  • Hospital: up to 30 days with medical certificates + 7 days without a certificate per calendar year (according to UNV policies).
