Through empathy and resilience, our employees help provide support to our community through programming and meaningful connection.About The RoleThe HR Assistant is an integral part of the HR Department. As our organization has continued to grow, we have a need for a detailed person who will be responsible for ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, HR policies within the organization, and will be the primary point of contact for FMLA, disability claims, unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, and reporting.Main ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain human resources policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulationsKeep up-to-date with changes to laws and regulations affecting IM and ensure that the Employee Handbook is updated annually and as neededServe as the primary point of contact for all FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, and Disability Claim inquiries and administer requests in accordance with federal and state law and IM policyMaintain accurate and complete reporting on FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, Unemployment Claims, and Disability ClaimsPerform benefits reconciliation to verify employees are enrolled appropriatelyPrepare payroll packets in cooperation with HR team to capture new hires, terminations, and other employee changesWork with HR staff to ensure education and background verifications are complete before new hire beginsOrganize and maintain HR Drive to make files and information easily accessible to HR and staffPrepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies Responsible for annual and random drug testing and annual motor vehicle background checkResponsible for conducting employee exit interviews and making recommendations based on information and data receivedQualifications, Skills & ExperienceBachelor’s degree requiredSix months experience in human resources, leave management, compliance, or reportingRelevant internship experience will be consideredAn advanced degree may be substituted for the experience requirementExcellent communication skills and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical skills and ability to make decisions quickly with attention to accuracy, detail and contextStrong writing skillsDemonstrated ability to communicate at all levels of an organizationCommitment to teamwork, collaboration, and accountabilityDemonstrated ability to handle sensitive HR issuesValid driver’s licenseWe are an equal opportunity employer.
