HEALTH PROMOTION COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SUPERVISOR 

Doctors without borders/MedecinsSansFrontieres (MSF) is an internationalhumanitarian organization that provides assistance in more than 60 countries of the world to the population in difficulty situation, victims of natural disasters, man-made disasters and armed conflicts, regardless of their race, religious or political beliefs.

Employee's main activity:

With the support and under the guidance of the manager of health promotion (community involvement in health promotion ) HCP, is responsible for the implementation of the HCP strategy/plan with community participation and monitors HCP activities and health promotion teams working in communities or health facilities, in accordance with MSF project objectives, values, standards and procedures.

Main responsibilities:

Strategy, measures and monitoring of the ZPHZ:

  • Actively contribute to the development/adaptation of the strategy/plan of the ZPHZ.
  • Manage and monitor the implementation strategy/plan of the PGD according to the timeline.
  • Maintain participatory approaches and regular consultations with patients/community before and during the implementation of the PGD strategy.
  • Provide health training for MSF medical and non-medical staff.
  • Provide support in the development of health education materials and participatory methods and in applying the right process (pre-testing, content validation, translation).
  • Contribute to express assessments and surveys.
  • Actively support the systematic collection, coding and reporting of feedback and rumors in the community.
  • Assist in community-level surveillance (data collection, active case finding, tracking, healthcare liaison).
  • Plan and organize meetings with the community (in cooperation with the manager from the ZPHZ).
  • Join community mapping.
  • Monitoring: ensure that data collection tools are available; coding of data in the database and quality control.
  • Monitoring: participation in the analysis of monitoring data and finding adjustments (in cooperation with the manager of the health center), monthly reporting (monthly medical reports , situation reports, …).

Team management:

  • Participate in the evaluation of the health promotion team (together with the manager of the health promotion department).
  • Participate in writing the health promotion team development plan.
  • Training: In collaboration with the Health Promotion Manager, assess needs, develop and implement training for the team of health promotion.
  • Organize regular and systematic supervision of health promotion activities and provide coaching in the workplace.
  • Take care of the planning and practical organization of events for the health promotion team (schedule of health promotion events).
  • Take care of the organization regular meetings of the health promotion team.

Features of the MSF unit:

The position is located in the Dnipro-East project (Donetsk region). The new community outreach team will work in our mobile clinics. The Health Community Engagement Supervisor (HPCES) has overall responsibility for capacity building and implementation of various measures, according to the medical needs and operational strategy of this project. The supervisor will report to the medical officer of the project and will receive technical support from the population manager, who is located in Kyiv.

In close cooperation with the line manager and technical reference:

  • Participate in defining and updating strategy and identifying indicators to monitor performance, results and achievements.
  • Participate in monthly reports as directed (SitReps, statistical reports, etc.)
  • Conduct HR-related processes (meetings, trainings, internal communications, etc.) , in line with MSF values ​​and procedures.
  • Ensure regular collaboration and communication between the Population Engagement Team and other relevant MSF teams to ensure that the Engagement Teamwith the population is part of the medical activity and contributes to the achievement of the medical goals of the project.

Main Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the implementation of the strategy and related activities according to goals, target audience, campaigns, messages, events, specific actions, etc.
  • Monitor teams and their activities in mobile clinics, reporting difficulties and progress and adapting format and content as necessary.
  • Supervise team members in various work locations, being the first point of contact for support, advice, delegation, leadership, monitoring, quality control and support of their work tasks, time management and reporting,
  • Lead training initiatives according to the training plan for the population work team and other teams that will receive the benefits of community involvement and health initiatives. 
  • Evaluate, develop and adapt materials according to project needs. Ensuring content and format are pre-tested with target groups to ensure messaging is adequate, relevant and fully understood.
  • Increase our engagement (and understanding) with communities in places where we work through activities such as community sessions, community meetings, patient satisfaction assessments; understanding messages; Rapid qualitative assessment on various health care issues; regular collection of qualitative data, etc.
  • Through ongoing community engagement, develop activities to better understand the context and needs of health care activities.
  • Perform normal activities such as: sessions with patients/caregivers; understanding treatment; community mapping / village assessment; quantitative/qualitative data collection
  • Ensure that information on dynamics and movements is communicated to the MSF team

Any other relevant tasks that MSF may need to improve health and community involvement in our programs and activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

< strong style="font-weight: 700">Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Community Health, Nursing.

Experience:

  • Experience in health promotion is required; team management; implementation of programs for at least 2 years;
  • Experience in using qualitative methodology is desirable;

  • Basic computer skills.

Languages:

  • Proficiency in Ukrainian language - mandatory;
  • Proficiency in аnGlygian< /strong> language - necessarily at the B1/B2 level.
