INTERSOS Ukraine is a division of the international humanitarian organization INTERSOS.
We provide assistance to victims of emergency situations, armed conflicts and natural disasters. First of all, we help the most vulnerable categories: children, women, the elderly, displaced persons who were forced to leave their homes and moved to safer places, as well as those who cannot leave dangerous regions and remain under constant threat.
< p style="font-style: normal; font-weight: 400">The INTERSOS emergency team is located in Vinnytsia, Odesa, Dnipro, Kharkiv and is expanding its activities in Mykolaiv and Kherson.
INTERSOS Ukraine provides economic, humanitarian and medical assistance, conducts educational activities, supplies medicines and equipment to medical institutions, provides shelter and provides basic needs of people. During the year of work in Ukraine, our team provided assistance to more than 100,000 people. Of these, 75,000 people were covered by protection, prevention and emergency aid programs. 3,000 medical consultations were conducted in remote regions not covered by the official health care system. 49 medical institutions received medicines, medical equipment and technology.
We are opening the position of Protection Officer (Head of the social protection team) in Kharkiv.
The term of the contract is until 12/31/24 with the possibility of extension.
Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Regional Development, Social Protection and Projects, the Protection and Community Work Project Specialist is responsible for the coordination and implementation of measures in the field of protection at the community level in the Kharkiv region. He/she will supervise the work of community outreach facilitators, which consists of community mobilization and integration of internally displaced persons. He/she will train Community Facilitators to conduct awareness raising activities and provide information on available and accessible services. He/she will be involved in the mapping of available services. The Protection and Community Project Specialist will coordinate closely with other members of the protection team.
Planning, monitoring and evaluation of project activities:
- Implement work plans of projects in agreement with the Manager of regional development, social protection and projects.
- Join the search and selection of facilitators for work with the community in the Kharkiv region.
- li>Supervise the work of community outreach facilitators.
- Plan weekly bilateral meetings with active community leaders and members and stakeholders.
- Work with community outreach facilitators to develop weekly event plans for raising awareness.
- Ensure close coordination and cooperation with other members of the protection team and the Multidisciplinary Mobile Team.
- Prepare and timely submit weekly and monthly progress reports to the Regional Development Manager, social protection and projects.
- Conduct regular meetings with community outreach facilitators to review achievements and draw up a weekly plan.
- In close collaboration with the Protection Project Specialist and the Multidisciplinary Mobile Team, develop monthly plans for conducting informational and educational activities.
- Provide weekly reports on the progress of awareness-raising activities and provide recommendations for the organization of informational consultations requested by the community.
- Cooperate with community outreach facilitators and Multidisciplinary Mobile Team to disseminate information, conduct group activities to provide psychosocial support and provide assistance in solving identified problems. Together with the INTERSOS Protection Team, develop informational materials to raise awareness in the community.
- Together with other members of the protection team, participate in the mapping of available services in the Vinnytsia region.
- Together with the members of the Protection Team, contribute to the monthly update of the map of services and have information on different ways of redirecting to service providers.
- In order to ensure the awareness of the population of the community about the available services, promote the dissemination of information about existing services in the field of protection, including cooperation with other service providers.
- Make referrals and follow-up of individuals/households who have serious problems in the field of protection , to relevant service providers.
- Responsible for protection monitoring by Community Outreach Facilitators and providing data to the Protection Information Management Specialist.
- Coordinating with local public organizations that provide legal aid, with the aim of organizing consultations for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Kharkiv region.
- Perform any other tasks from the supervisor.
- Actively promote the dissemination and exchanging information about all problems in the field of protection or violation of rights in the territory belonging to the area of responsibility of the Multidisciplinary Protection Team.
- Experience in community mobilization, social protection or psychosocial support projects.
Requirements for the candidate:
- Toexperience in community mobilization, social protection or psychosocial support projects.
- Experience in humanitarian organizations will be an advantage.
- Leadership skills, ability to manage personnel and develop the abilities of team members, teamwork and cooperation.
- Strategic vision.
- Orientation on results and quality.
- Behavioral flexibility.
- Commitment to the principles that INTERSOS adheres to.< /li>
- Understanding the principles, standards and best practices of humanitarian intervention.
- Knowledge of English will be an advantage.
