About this position

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Management and Technical Issues of Humanitarian Demining, the Team Leader for Non-Technical Examination and Information on Risks Related to Explosive Ordnance will be responsible for the effective management, technical supervision and implementation of non-technical measures examination (NTO) and informing about the risks associated with explosive objects (IRVNP) in the specified region of activity. The role involves significant team management, quality control, coordination and engagement with communities. and responsibility will be:

Implementation of Non-Technical Inspection (NTO) 

  • Ensure that the implementation of NTO processes is in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and guidelines. 
  • Ensure the application of the principle of "all reasonable efforts" in the examination process.

  • Review and approve at the team level recommendations for excluding areas from the list of dangerous. 
  • Ensure that all NTO documents and reports meet technical and quality control requirements.

Manage personnel and quality assurance

  • Directly manage NTO/IRVNP specialists and junior NTO/IRVNP specialists and their daily work
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and identify training and professional development needs
  • Recruit and “on-board” new employees
  • Cooperate during monitoring of IVRNP (internal and external) both in Ukraine and in the Main office (Headquarters) for quality assurance/quality control (QA/QA)

Coordination and interaction with the community

  • Act as the main contact person with IRVNP/NTO for other HRM activities (mining, victim assistance) and other DRB sectors to ensure an integrated approach
  • Establish and maintain relations with local/regional authorities and relevant stakeholders
  • Lead strategic communication with communities to ensure awareness of demining plans and activities
  • Interact with local and national authorities to coordinate the handover of vacated areas

Reporting and Governance information

  • Maintain up-to-date data on IRNP/NGO activities based on team input
  • Check all IRNP/NGO documentation before submission for quality assurance
  • Provide data for government, donor and other reports upon request
  • Monitor regular updates of IRNP online and offline archives

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a humanitarian organization, including at least 1 year in team management

In addition, we also expect the following:

Necessary requirements:

  • Full higher education
  • Technical certification in IRVNP and NTO
  • Excellent communication skills skills
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Fluency in Ukrainian
  • Average level of English

Desirable:

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Ability to collect and accurately record field data.

Salary and working conditions will correspond to the conditions employment of national staff of the Danish Refugee Council in Ukraine.
