JOB PROFILE: Production Manager (Food Production)

Company Description

Stable manufacturing company in the FMCG segment (food production, critical infrastructure) is looking for an experienced production manager to manage two production sites, technical service and other production units. The company works according to high standards of quality and safety, focused on development and scaling.

Purpose of the position

Ensure efficient, safe and continuous operation of production. Achieve the fulfillment of production plans, optimize the operation of sites, manage the technical unit, ensure energy efficiency and optimality of other costs, compliance with production technologies and HACCP/ISO standards. Provide, together with the HR service, a full complement of production and engineering and technical personnel.  Organize full document flow and production reporting.

Main areas of responsibility

1. Operational management of production

  • Planning and distribution of production plans by divisions and shifts.
  • Coordination of the work of two production sites.
  • Ensuring optimal loading of capacities and production rhythm.
  • Management of the work of managers of production divisions.

2. Procurement, raw materials and materials

  • Formation of orders for raw materials, packaging materials and auxiliary materials in accordance with production plans.
  • Control of balances and interaction with the warehouse of raw materials.
  • Optimization of stock levels, participation in demand forecasting.
  • Participation in the quality control of raw materials upon receipt (together with the department quality).

3. Product quality and safety

  • Adherence to production technology
  • Compliance with HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 standards.
  • Control of critical points, implementation of sanitary procedures.
  • Cooperation with the quality department, passing external audits.
  • Management of corrective actions and deviations.

4. Personnel management

  • Ensuring full staffing in production.
  • Management of department heads.
  • Management of technical service (mechanics, electricians, engineers).
  • Team formation, development, training and instruction.
  • Ensuring compliance with labor discipline.

5. Equipment and technical condition

Energy efficiency and resources

  • Control of consumption of electricity, gas, water and other energy carriers.
  • Analysis of energy consumption and implementation of measures to reduce costs.
  • Working with the technical service to optimize the use of resources.

7. Production document flowtsv

  • Organization of the complete document flow of production: production logs, invoices, variable tasks, sanitation logs.
  • Maintenance of SOP, process cards, instructions in an up-to-date state.
  • Ensuring timely entry of data (production, deviations, defects).

8. Financial and operational reporting

  • Organization and control of production, financial, technical and administrative reporting.
  • Control of cost indicators, consumption of materials, waste.
  • Formation of production KPIs and their analysis (OEE, shortage, downtime).
  • Preparation of regular reports to the company management.

9. Optimization and development of production

  • Implementation of Lean tools (5S, Kaizen or others).
  • Reduction of losses, optimization of flows and logistics within production.
  • Analysis of bottlenecks, preparation of capacity development plans.

Key KPI

  • Execution and rhythm of production plan.
  • OEE of production lines: Availability-Productivity-Quality.
  • The level of defects and waste.
  • The level of downtime and accidents.
  • The timeliness of R&D.
  • The cost of a unit of production.
  • Energy efficiency and saving resources.
  • The timeliness of ordering raw materials and materials.
  • Correctness and completeness of documentation and reporting.

Requirements for the candidate

Experience

  • 3-5+ years in the role of a production manager or deputy in the food industry.
  • Experience of managing several production sites.
  • Experience of managing a technical service — mandatory.
  • Working with HACCP/ISO/FSSC standards is mandatory.
  • Experience in optimizing production processes and working with KPI.

Knowledge and skills

  • Understanding food production technological processes.
  • Knowledge of the principles of operation of production equipment.
  • Possession of HACCP documentation, technological instructions, production journals.
  • Knowledge of Lean tools, performance analysis methods.
  • Confident user of Excel and accounting/ERP systems.

Management competencies

  • Strong leadership, ability to manage various functions (production + technical service).
  • System thinking and high responsibility.
  • Ability to work in a fast production cycle.
  • Orientation results, order and discipline.
