We seek a dynamic and experienced Head of Compliance to lead our compliance efforts within our FCA-regulated EMI (Electronic Money Institution). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in EMI compliance leadership and a strong understanding of UK and EU compliance legislation and best practices. The Head of Compliance will be responsible for managing the onboarding and transaction monitoring teams, identifying and mitigating risks, including AML/CFT, sanctions, and fraud, and driving operational efficiency and scalability within the department.
Your regular tasks
– Team Management: Lead and manage the compliance department's onboarding and transaction monitoring teams, ensuring effective collaboration and performance
– Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate AML, sanctions, fraud, and other compliance risks, implementing robust policies and procedures to safeguard the organisation
– Recruitment and Talent Management: Interview, hire, and onboard top compliance professionals, fostering a high-performing team culture. Conduct staff performance evaluations, create professional development plans, and provide coaching and mentoring as needed
– Policy Development: Develop and enhance key compliance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation
– Operational Efficiency: Drive operational efficiency initiatives to reduce processing time and enhance overall departmental performance
– Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits of compliance processes to ensure quality and adherence to regulatory requirements while hitting processing time objectives
– Objective Setting and Performance Management: Develop and implement departmental objectives and key performance indicators (OKRs and KPIs), monitor progress, and drive continuous improvement
– Communication and Reporting: Communicate regularly with top management on compliance matters, providing updates on key initiatives, risks, and performance metrics. Ensure timely and accurate internal and external regulatory reporting
– Technology Integration: Drive technological improvements within the compliance department, leveraging internal and external technologies to enhance efficiency
– Strategic Vision: Develop and implement a strategic vision for exponentially scaling the client base while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements
Skills and qualifications
– Minimum 6 years of experience in EMI compliance role, 4+ years of experience in leadership role
– Deep knowledge of UK and EU compliance legislation and best practices
– Proven experience in team building and management
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
As a plus
– Professional certification in compliance (e.g., ACAMS, ICA)
– Familiarity with regulatory technology (RegTech) solutions
