In Ukraine, REACH has a supportive and closely-knit team of over 60 people, spread across seven offices, all dedicated to producing high-quality research to improve the situation for people in Ukraine. REACH is seeking a candidate with a strong background in GIS to join our growing team as a GIS Specialist.

Reports to:

- IMPACT Senior GIS Manager

- IMPACT Country Representative

Functions

The GIS Specialist will be responsible for the following tasks:

- Support the research team on geospatial analysis and involvement of high-quality spatial data.

- Use innovative analysis techniques to inform the humanitarian response in Ukraine.

- Support research by defining the meaningful geographic scope, implementing spatial data quality checks during data collection, and preparing static and interactive maps at the reporting stage.

- Use creative approaches to ensure research is presented in the best way possible, including designing dashboards, web maps, StoryMaps, or other relevant visualizations.

- Ensure operational partners have access to data and findings by conducting presentations and attending meetings.

- Coordinate and supervise the work tasks of the GIS staff within the unit or sub-unit.

Qualifications

Education:

- Education in Spatial Data Science, Cartography, GIS, Remote Sensing, and Natural or Human Geography is desirable but not required.

- At least 2 years of work experience in the GIS/Cartography/Remote Sensing/Information Management sphere is required.

Technical Requirements:

- Experience working with complex geospatial data, automating mapping workflows, and creating visually appealing mapping products is desirable.

- Prior experience in the humanitarian sector is desirable but not required.

- Prior experience using ArcGIS Pro or QGIS is required.

- Experience with GDAL, Python, or R and the ability to automate workflows is desirable.

- Experience in web-mapping, including the development of web-maps using AGOL, Leaflet, Mapbox, or similar tools.

- Fluency in Ukrainian and/or Russian, and good spoken English is required.

- Highly motivated and passionate about improving the humanitarian response in Ukraine.

- Flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing needs and responsibilities.

- Ability to work independently.

- Attention to detail.

- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Conditions

- Salary defined by the ACTED salary grid; based on educational level, expertise, hardship, security, and performance.

- Cosy office in the central part of the city.
