Job description

Gender-based violence prevention (GBV) specialist will supervise by implementing risk reduction and prevention measures.

To successfully perform this job, the individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation him.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Program activity

  • Work closely with the HSE Coordinator/Program Manager/Deputy Manager, staff team, local partners and community stakeholders to plan program activities.
  • Support as needed conduct assessments of GBV, making maximum use of available information sources and opportunities for coordination, as well as ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards.
  • Coordinate work with government coordinators, local partners and women's networks to develop appropriate strategies and approaches to GBV prevention and risk reduction.

Capacity building and implementation

  • Manage the implementation of GBV prevention and risk reduction strategies.
  • Ensure effective community participation in the implementation process, including the leadership of women and girls.
  • Train community mobilizers and others to conduct outreach.
  • Lead implementation of specific methods where appropriate (e.g., SASA! Together, EMAP).
  • Educate staff, partners, and interdisciplinary actors to integrate focus to GBV and reduce the risks.
  • Support initiatives and trainings to prevent sexual exploitation and violence.
  • Conduct focus group discussions and interviews to understand the needs of women and girls and the risks of GBV.
  • Work closely with partners and coordinators in communities to identify and eliminate risks in the field
  • Monitor the distribution of dignity protection kits, where appropriate.

    Personnel Management

    • Recruit and supervise community mobilizers where appropriate.
    • Educate and train staff.
    • Develop support strategies for staff working with GZN, promote team cohesion and support the principles of self-improvement.

    Monitoring and reporting

    • Seek and analyze community feedback and adapt your activities accordingly.
    • Monitor post-distribution monitoring where appropriate.
    • Monitor and document risk prevention and mitigation program activities.
    • Add to internal and external reports.

    • Regularly coordinate with the Head and Deputy Head of Anti-GD and participate, as necessary, in extended team meetings.
    • Mobilize stakeholders to strengthen mitigation efforts risks and prevention of GBV.
    • Contribute to the application of a victim-centered approach in all internal and external coordination meetings.
    • Present program goals and standards for countering GBV.

    Security and Conduct

    • Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies.
    • Contribute to the creation of a safe and supportive work environment for all employees and partners working in the field of counter-terrorism.
    • Demonstrate the basic principles of anti-GBP programs, including respect, non-discrimination, responsible use of power, non-violence and promotion of gender equality.
    • Contribute to the formation of a positive image and general trust in the program and the organization, in particular through compliance with the Code of Ethical Standards of Conduct, including compliance with anti-harassment policies, ensuring safety and protection against sexual exploitation and abuse.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience is required.
    • Minimum of one year of experience in the field of GHG
    • Demonstrated commitment to core principles of countermeasures programs HRD, including gender equality and support servicesand victim-oriented.
    • Awareness of standards, approaches, and tools for the prevention of GBV and reduction of risks.
    • Experience in conducting trainings and facilitation.
    • Good interpersonal skills communication and promotion.
    • Familiarity with government and non-governmental organizations that provide services.
    • Ability to make informed decisions, remain flexible and apply experience and advice to new challenges that arise.

    • Fluency in Ukrainian, English - preferred 

    Requirement for business trips: No
