DRB has existed in Ukraine since 2014. At the moment, more than 700 employees work in DRB in total on the territory of Ukraine. In 2024, the DRB will continue to significantly expand to implement emergency response in the social and legal protection, livelihoods, housing rehabilitation and humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining) sectors, providing direct support to responsible individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and as well as their partners. DRB will further develop long-term solutions, adapting them to the changing situation.

About the job

You will be responsible for managing all application budgeting processes, internal and donor reporting for DRB in Ukraine. You will provide support to the Finance Manager in ensuring the implementation of new financial processes and tools in accordance with the DRB Operational Manual, internal instructions and donor requirements. You will be responsible for strengthening financial management and control procedures and systems, conducting spot checks and internal audits, and implementing action plans to address deficiencies. In addition, you will provide training and on-the-job support to ensure effective control of budget execution, financial reporting and decentralized financial management processes.

Your main responsibilities will be:

- Ensuring thorough and effective budget management within the framework of national programs.

- Monitoring budgets, costs and projected calculations, providing support and recommendations to project managers.< /p>

- Ensuring the timely provision of high-quality financial reports to donors and internal reports.

- Conducting trainings and seminars on budget control, financial reporting and decentralized financial management processes.

p>- Providing support to the Financial Manager and the Head of the Support Service in the preparation of the annual master estimate of the program and the analysis of deviations.

- Identifying risks and developing/improving internal control systems to reduce the associated risks.

- Providing technical support for the decentralization process, ensuring the implementation of new financial processes and tools.

- Providing support to relevant managers on key financial issues for all programs in the country, including co-financing, financial reporting, key deviations and any corrective actions.

- Providing recommendations on improving the use of the budget and economic efficiency.

- Providing technical assistance during audits and donor evaluations, ensuring compliance with financial norms and reporting standards.

About You

In order to be successful in this position, we expect you to have at least 5 years of experience in the field of finance/accounting in an international non-governmental organization. You will need to work with a large amount of information and have experience with Excel to sort and analyze it. 

In addition, we also expect the following:

  • Competence in providing technical recommendations and training
  • Work experience with relevant donors (e.g. UNHCR, ECHO, UNICEF, US Government and others)
  • Advanced proficiency in Ms Office and Ms 365 Dynamics
  • Fluency in English at a professional level< /li>

We offer:

Salary and conditions will comply with the Danish Refugee Council's Conditions of Employment for National Staff.
