DRC has been in Ukraine since 2014. At the moment, DRB has more than 800 employees in total on the territory of Ukraine. In 2024, the DRB will continue to significantly expand to implement emergency response in the sectors of social and legal protection, economic development, housing reconstruction and resettlement, and humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining), providing direct support to responsible individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and as well as their partners. DRB will continue to develop long-term solutions, adapting them to the changing situation.

General purpose of the role:

DRB is currently looking for a Junior Public Information Specialist risks associated with mines and explosive remnants of warfor its activities in Mykolaiv.

This position will report to the Head of the Department's Risk Awareness for Mines and Explosive Remnants of War.< /p>

Your main duties will be:

  • Participate in the development of work plans of INRM activities and implement them accordingly.
  • Follow the instructions of the mine risk awareness team leader regarding field coordination and report uncoordinated incidents.
  • Participate actively in the internal meetings of the INRM team and share relevant updates.
  • Maintain interaction with various units of the DRB of the HRM of humanitarian demining, non-technical survey, assistance to victims, as well as other sectors of the DRB to ensure an integrated approach.
  • Maintain current knowledge about the current situation, including about contamination by explosive objects (EXP).< /li>
  • Conduct sessions with INRM for adults, teenagers and children in accordance with the SOPs of the DRB of the HRM, using standard and approved methods. 
  • As an Assistant Instructor, support the delivery of Training for Trainers (TOT) for local stakeholders. 
  • Support seminars, working meetings, and other public events on humanitarian mine action organized by DRB. 
  • Maintain contact with local communities. 
  • Distribute information materials from INRM, according to the instructions. 
  • Provide assistance during the development and improvement of MINRM materials and information methodology.
  • Comply with SOPs on MINRM and PUN, reporting problems with their implementation to the group leaders of the mine risk awareness department. 
  • Use the developed information management tools to provide data on the activities of INRM to the information management team of the DRB and the team leaders of the mine risk awareness department. 
  • If necessary, accompany the procurement process, including the preparation of the necessary documentation.

About you:

To be successful in the role of Junior specialist in communication about the risks associated with changes and explosive residueswarwe expect you to have at least 1 year of experience working in a humanitarian organization or educational institution. We also expect the following:

  • Higher education with a specialization in Pedagogy, or another related specialization.
  • Skills in public speaking/ conducting trainings, presentations, working with the audience in offline and online formats.
  • Experience of working with children, teenagers and adult audiences, public speaking skills.
  • Fluent command of the Ukrainian language.
  • Knowledge of English at a basic level will be an advantage.
