About the organization

Camino is a newly created Ukrainian public organization created as a local partner Water Mission International, which has been operating in Ukraine since the start of full-scale war in 2022.

Our mission is to strengthen community resilience by expanding access to WASH services, energy solutions and protection services, promoting people's dignity, security and self-sufficiency.

In partnership with UNICEF and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, we implement projects to modernize water supply and drainage systems, restore critical infrastructure and adapt the sector to European Union standards

About role

We are looking for a Marine Policy Expert to join the public policy reform team in the field of protection and reproduction of marine waters.

You will work in close cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, international partners and expert communities, contributing to the approximation of Ukrainian maritime policy to EU standards and the achievement of a "good" ecological state of the Black and Azov Seas.

Context and significance of the role

The Marine Environmental Protection Strategy of Ukraine defines the key directions of the policy in this area in accordance with the EU Framework Directive on the Marine Strategy No. 14.

A strong expert team is needed for its implementation, which can:

• develop a modern marine water management system,
• ensure conformity of legislation with EU standards,
• strengthen the state's institutional capacity in the field of marine ecologyof security.

Key tasks of the team of experts

• Development of a road map for the implementation of reforms taking into account EU directives
• Preparation of legal acts in the field of protection and reproduction of marine waters
• Association implementation of Action Plans to achieve a "good" ecological state of the Black and Azov Seas
• Coordination of interaction between state bodies, communities and international projects
• Elaboration of the Procedure for the development and approval of plans for the integrated management of coastal territories
• Support for the preparation of public investment projects in the maritime sphere

Main duties

• Participate in the preparation of proposals for the implementation of state policy in the field of protection and reproduction of marine waters and preservation of marine ecosystems. 
• Participate in the preparation of proposals (information, data) regarding the formation and implementation of policies in the field of protection and reproduction of marine waters. 
• Participate in processing and submitting proposals and comments to draft legislative and normative legal acts, the developers of which are other central bodies of executive power. 
• Contribute to the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with EU directives and international standards. 
• Ensure the fulfillment of Ukraine's international obligations on the protection and reproduction of marine waters, the preservation of marine ecosystems, stipulated by international treaties to which Ukraine is a party. 
• Ensure compliance of international investment project implementation processes with legislation. 
• Provide professional support to working groups, interdepartmental platforms and stakeholder consultations.
