The International Charitable Foundation "Caritas of Ukraine" invites to its team - an Expert in support of social workers (Shelter).

This expert ensures the integration of social work into projects of repair and restoration of housing and infrastructure through methodical and professional support social workers working in interaction with engineering teams.

Basic responsibilities:

Technical responsibilities:

  • Formation and development of a systematic approach to assessment of needs within housing and infrastructure projects, in particular in integration with engineering interventions at the level of households, social infrastructure and collective centers.
  • Development and implementation of approaches of integrated socio-technical work of social workers and engineering teams at the stages of selection, preparation, implementation and completion of repair works.
  • Methodical support of social workers in carrying out needs assessment in in the context of housing and repair interventions (vulnerability, accessibility, social risks, household readiness for repairs, support during work).
  • Ensuring social workers' understanding of the technical specifics of housing and infrastructure projects and the role of social support in the engineering cycle.
  • Participation in the development and unification of social questionnaires, SOPs, instructions and work algorithms for housing and infrastructure components; monitoring the quality of their application.
  • Development of indicators for assessing the quality of social support in housing and infrastructure projects and monitoring their achievement.
  • Unification of approaches to managing complex situations that arise during engineering interventions in households or at facilities.
  • Regular review and updating of needs assessment tools and approaches taking into account the experience of implementing repair and restoration projects projects.

Supervision and capacity building:

  • Conducting introductory training for new social workers with a focus on their role in interdisciplinary interaction with engineering teams and integration into project processes.
  • Daily professional support of social workers who work in conjunction with engineers, including support in planning work at facilities, interaction with beneficiaries during repairs and solving field challenges.
  • Management and coordination of the work of a team of social workers within projects: organization of work processes, communication with engineering teams, compliance with joint procedures and work schedules.
  • Implementation trainings and supervisions on issues of social assessment in housing interventions, communication during renovation works, the principle of "Do no harm", discrimination and PSEA.
  • Нproviding individual consultations to social workers, organizing working visits to facilities and events to share experience in joint work with engineering teams.
  • Representing and protecting the professional interests of social workers in interdisciplinary project teams.

Support and development programs:

  • Promoting the integration of the social component into the approaches and processes of the program's housing and infrastructure projects.
  • Participation in the development and improvement of program approaches, tools and standards of social support in housing interventions.
  • Joining the planning, working groups and coordination processes of the program, presenting the perspective of social work.
  • Summarization of the practical experience of social workers in the implementation of housing and infrastructure projects and making proposals for program solutions.
  • Conducting periodic measures to analyze errors, lessons and improve the programmatic and operational principles of the social component of housing interventions.

Requirements:

  • Higher education in the field of social work, psychology, sociology or other related specialties.
  • Work experience in the field of social work, social protection or humanitarian projects of 3 years or more, in particular with the practice of coordinating teams of social workers, analyzing population needs and organizing the provision of social services.
  • Experience of working in humanitarian organizations or social programs (preferred).
  • Experience in conducting needs assessments, developing methodologies and training staff.
  • Fluent command of the Ukrainian language.
  • Confident use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, databases, as well as tools for preparing reports, analytics and remote coordination of teams (Zoom, Teams).

Necessary knowledge and skills:

  • Knowledge of national legislation in the social sphere.
  • Understanding the principles of inclusion, protection (PSEA) and the principles of humanitarian aid.

Necessary personal qualities:

  • Developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Analytical thinking.
  • Ability to plan and organize work.
  • Proactivity, adaptability, empathy and attentiveness to the needs of the population.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate the work of a team and provide methodological support.
