QUALIFIED TRANSLATOR

Médecins Sans Frontières/ Medecins Sans Frontieres ( 400">MSF) is an internationalhumanitarian organization that provides assistance in more than 60 countries of the world to the population in a difficult situation, victims of natural disasters, man-made disasters and armed conflicts, regardless of their race, religious or political beliefs.

Everyone who works with MSF does so out of conviction and is willing to support the values and principles of the organization.

Employee's main activity:

Performing professional translation activities and delegated duties in accordance with the specialization and instructions of the manager, as well as in accordance with the protocols, standards and procedures of MSF, in order to ensure the proper representation and translation of the activities and core values of MSF.

Main responsibilities:

  • Performance of professional written and oral translation in accordance with the specialization of the manager (for example, doctor, nurse, position in the field of intensive therapy, pharmaceuticals, laboratory activities, logistics, operational activities, personnel management), neutrality and respect for beneficiaries, employees, representatives of authorities, military formations and MSF personnel.
  • Execution of administrative tasks at the request of the manager (organization of meetings, keeping minutes, assistance in organization of supervision of beneficiaries). Providing the necessary feedback to the manager based on the results of meetings and negotiations. Assistance in writing reports (as required by MSF and government authorities), ensuring minutes are kept of all meetings and proper storage of translated documents. 
  • Depending on the specialization of the manager and the needs of the relevant department - establishment and maintenance of professional contacts with the relevant authorities, as well as the transfer of information from MSF to colleagues from the Ministry of Health and representatives of the authorities (in particular, information related to the care of beneficiaries).
  • Familiarity of the manager with cultural nuances when communicating with representatives of the Ministry of Health and partners to ensure good working relations. Training the supervisor in effective methods of culturally sensitive communication and informing the international staff about local customs, traditions, etc., which will contribute to better communication and understanding of the situation.
  • Immediately informing the supervisor of any problems that may be related to individual behavior (counterproductive and/or culturally insensitive) and declaring any "conflict of interest" while performing their professional duties responsibilities (e.g. personal interest).
  • Adherence to MSF's core principles, values, quality standards and Code of Conduct. Respect MSF identification materials and do not misuse them and use them only as intended.
  • Observe safety rules and regulations, DO NOT put yourself or others at risk. Promote and maintain the quality standards of MSF.

Features of the MSF unit:

  • Own medical terminology necessary for quality translation.
  • If necessary, provide translation support to international medical staff.
  • If necessary, provide translation support to the expat managers of the team.
  • Willingness to provide support to the MSF team during the evaluation of new locations or business trips to other cities of Ukraine.
  • Willingness to work (feel comfortable) in medical facilities where military personnel or ex-military personnel may be present, with strict confidentiality on a permanent basis basis.

Place of work: Poltava as an initial location with further readiness for relocation to other cities in accordance with the needs of the project.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Higher education (medical education will be an advantage)

Experience:

  • Required previous work experience of at least two years. Preferably in MSF or other NGOs.
  • Experience in translation and interpretation, as well as administrative tasks.
