JOB INFORMATION

IRC is looking for an Emergency Response Specialist to join our Women's Rights and Empowerment program in Ukraine. The specialist will be responsible for the prevention of GBV, public engagement and risk reduction, especially in conflict-affected areas: close to contact lines and emergency zones, as well as in remote and underserved settlements. The Associate will provide critical support to women and girls through a variety of activities and will ensure adherence to best practices in Protection and Empowerment of Women.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Implementation and quality of the program:

  • Conducting information sessions on the issue of human rights for women and girls in remote, hard-to-reach areas, as well as for evacuees from dangerous regions.
  • Distribute information booklets with vital information about where victims can get help.
  • Organize distribution of dignity kits for women and girls.
  • Provide psychological first aid to victims if necessary.
  • Development and implementation of measures to combat GBV and involve communities, ensuring adherence to best practices and approaches to work with women who have suffered from gender-based violence.
  • Apply for technical support and advice to management Programs for the development and implementation of measures.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of victims, compliance with agreements and respect for their wishes and decisions.

 Involvement communities:

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with communities, in particular with local leaders, groups, organizations and entities.
  • Making a map of available services and session materials for victims of GBV, service delivery points, community support for victims.
  • Work with the IRC team to ensure that the needs of women and girls in specific communities are addressed. 
  • Identify and support compliance with the protocols and guidelines for referral of victims of GBV and report them to the Program Manager.

  Administration and reporting:

  • Preparation and timely submission of weekly work plans of activities.
  • Preparation of weekly reports for the Senior Program Officer.
  • Completion all necessary tools for the activities carried out.
  • Preparation of monthly reports including information on public engagement activities, consultations and achievements.
  • Participate in coordination meetings related to the Protection of Rights women, at the request of the manager.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:Degree Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Rights or Law, or related field

Work Experience:Practical case management experience in HSE, SNP and life skills to promote recovery and rehabilitation of victims, responding to gender-based violence and promoting gendergender equality

Available skills and abilities:

- Demonstrated understanding and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients/beneficiaries

- Excellent communication skills

- Positive and professional attitude, including the ability to plan and work well in a team

- High degree of flexibility and strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and pay attention to detail

- Computer literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel

 REPORTING STRUCTURE AND TEAMWORK

The position reports to:Senior WPE Specialist, WPE Manager, Senior WPE Manager, WPE Coordinator

Internal cooperation: team on child protection issues; Defense team; the Economic Recovery and Development team; Health team.

External cooperation: with entities, organizations and institutions in the field of combating GZN
