Main purpose:

Ensure efficient, correct and safe transportation and timely delivery of authorized cargo, medical supplies and passengers using vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons or other specialized vehicles requiring special driver's licenses or training, ensuring proper technical and safe condition in accordance with the country's traffic rules and safety regulations MSF.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the vehicle and its contents, as well as for the safe delivery of transported goods. Perform or verify safe and proper loading and unloading, ensuring load is balanced, properly secured and secured.
  • Provide basic vehicle and engine maintenance, namely: monitor vehicle condition and perform daily vehicle inspections, including checking fuel, engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, radiator grille cleanliness, tire condition, operation of radio equipment, etc. If necessary, perform simple repairs. Transfer the vehicle when it is being used by another person.
  • Drive various types of vehicles (truck, tractor unit with semi-trailer) and operate equipment or mechanisms such as carts, hydraulic trolleys and forklifts.
  • Determine the route and schedule of movement or follow the route and schedule provided in advance.
  • Inform the immediate supervisor of any incidents, related to the transportation of passengers and/or cargo.
  • Ensure the presence of all valid documents in the vehicle, as well as the presence of all necessary documents for cargo and passengers before the trip. Ensure constant proper filling of all administrative documentation (transportand documents, customs formalities, traffic accident reports, acceptance and transfer forms, etc.).
  • Able to use all types of radios, memorize codes, callsigns and the radio alphabet, and maintain contact with the base in accordance with MSF communication policy to inform the driver of the driver's location and any potential consequences.
  • Know and follow safety rules relating to movement vehicles; follow and apply safety instructions; adapt driving style depending on external factors, such as weather conditions, country traffic rules, route (city or highway), time of day (day or night) and traffic density.

Features of the MSF unit:

  • Be responsible for the vehicle and its contents, and also for the safe transportation of the beneficiaries and the medical team. Perform or check safe and correct loading and unloading of beneficiaries when necessary.
  • Able to adapt the management style to emergency situations in a complex context without compromising on the safety of staff and beneficiaries.
  • Willingness to work trips in the territory of Ukraine with a rotational mode of work, mainly in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Mandatory permanent and officially recognized driver's license for driving vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons (trucks), as well as having all the necessary documents for driving a vehicle, including insurance, permits and a list of HF, VHF radio frequencies, maps.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience driving vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons. Knowledge and experience of using four-wheel drive (4WD) and locking differentials.
  • Previous work experience in similar positions in other organizations.

 Knowledge of languages: fluent in the Ukrainian language; knowledge of the English language is desirable.
