Director of Outreach and Communication in Student Senate for California Community Colleges

The Student Senate for California Community Colleges is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Outreach and Communications. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive outreach and communication strategies to enhance the organization's visibility, engage key stakeholders, and promote our mission and initiatives. This role requires a seasoned leader with a strong background in marketing, outreach, and communication, particularly social media. Responsibilities include:Strategic Planning:Develop and execute a comprehensive outreach and communications strategy aligned with organizational goalsCollaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment of communication and outreach efforts with overall business objectivesStakeholder Engagement:Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, partners, and educational institutionsIdentify and implement initiatives to engage stakeholders and build a supportive networkPublic Relations:Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets to secure positive coverageDraft and edit press releases, articles, and other communication materialsContent Development:Oversee the creation of compelling and impactful content for various channels, including website, social media, newsletters, and other communication platformsEnsure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication materialsDigital and Social Media Management:Develop and implement strategies to enhance the organization's online presenceMonitor and analyze social media trends, adapting strategies as needed to maximize engagementCommunity Outreach:Oversee implementation of initiatives to engage with local communities, emphasizing inclusivity and diversityOversee the coordination of outreach events, workshops, and partnerships to strengthen ties with target audiencesCollaboration and Team Management:Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication of key messagesLead and mentor a team of communication professionals, providing guidance and supportRequirementsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
