Job DescriptionWe are urgently seeking a Director Communications to support our communications strategies and marketing campaign implementations for a wide range of events. This role calls for exceptional interpersonal communication skills, the ability to delegate tasks effectively, and a passion for learning new skills. Responsible for managing internal and external communications including general visibility, public relations, social media and media outreach strategies as directed by the Director. This position is also responsible for writing, editing and publishing content for internal channels.Director Communication is responsible for many organizational and creative tasks to standardize and improve the communication and marketing efforts of the club. They have the following responsibilities:Collaborate with other departments to identify the events to promoteCreate style guides and brand voice outlines for all marketing staff to follow and other vital departmentsDraft press releases and speeches for club news and eventsWrite letters, interdepartmental memos and other business correspondenceCommunicate with media outlets and journalists and create press kitsDevelop materials to educate staff on club communication practicesCoach and assist team members on improving communication skillPerform communications research and monitor the progress of various communications strategiesCollaborate with team members to maximize member engagementPrimary job duties involve a variety of communications skills (verbal, written, multimedia, etc.) to support club event programs and attendance objectivesSupervises the development of club program materials and electronic media to include websites, press-releases, newsletters, presentations, all manners of collateral, and other tools to ensure appropriate messaging and brand strategy are effectively executed. Act as the primary club point of contact for mediaExcellent written and verbal communication skills. Develop and implement innovative communications strategies and plansEstablish a regular cadence of relevant, easily accessible content through various communication channelsMeasure, report and adjust communications activities based on outcomesDevelop communication plans in collaboration with Executives throughout the organization; works closely with marketing to ensure the alignment of internal and external messagingMonitor communication plan milestone completion; identifies process and operational roadblocks; owns and consults solution development with stakeholders and escalates critical decisions to reach alignmentOwns major end-to-end processes and events on a project, takes initiative, and uses problem solving skills to think beyond the task to the outcome that needs to be achievedIndependently gathers information from a variety of sources to analyze, interpret, and summarize data gathered and to deliver insightsCreates comprehensive and effective communications strategies to mitigate risk and ensure project successEstablishes partnerships and consults with key business stakeholders and team membersFosters teamwork, collaboration, and learning within the team contributing to a positive work environmentProvides feedback to project team members as necessary for high performanceKnowledgeable in strategic communications planning methodology, leading edge practices, trends and information; aware of employee engagement strategies and innovative tactics being applied in the marketplaceExceptional writing, communication, storytelling, and project management skillsStrong PowerPoint and visual design skillsExperience in developing communications plans and strategies to deliver on business objectivesExperience communicating to frontline teams as well as leadershipAbility to manage deadlines and deliver results in a fast-paced environmentExperience in managing events like leadership conferences, town halls and webcastsExperience working with teams, graphic designers and other creative supportOutstanding ability to manage relationships and balance project, organization, and team needs to ensure mutually beneficial outcomesExcellent consultative skills and ability to communicate effectively across varied stakeholder audiences, including senior organizational leadersComfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environmentMust be able to develop and clearly and concisely present a professional product to multiple levels of managementMust be well organized, able to prioritize work, manage time effectively, and follow through on commitmentsSensitivity in handling confidential informationAbility to work individually or within a team environmentWrite copy, edit submissions and publish content for media properties, ensuring all content is consistent with the guidelines and standards. Assist with creating and managing media relations campaigns, including writing press releases, responding to media inquiries, monitoring and tracking media mentionsExcellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills along with interviewing skills are essential. A good understanding of general practices, methods and procedures related to public relations, media relations and marketing. The right person for the job will be organized and detail-oriented. Passionate about good editing, writing, and grammar. Knowledgeable about social media best practices. Comfortable dealing with the media (making media pitches, and answering questions from the media when inquires come into the media team) and have a solid understanding of online, television, and radio media outlets. Able to think critically and creatively. Able to work well under deadline pressure and multi-task. Willing to work independently as well as collaboratively. Willing to take direction and work in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Responsible for recommending, executing, and maintaining all communication strategies, plans, and message management processes. Contributes to the development of integrated communication plans and execution against those plans. Responsible for recommending adjustments to communication strategies, plans, and key messages and executing accordingly. Responsible for managing deliverables and ensuring quality assurance standards are met across all functional requirements. Responsible for directly supervising employees.
