Main responsibilities:
⁃ Expert knowledge of SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
⁃ Working with highly loaded databases running 24x7
⁃ Administration, configuration, setup of MySQL, PostgreSQL
⁃ Ensuring DBMS security
⁃ Analysis and resolution of complex infrastructure incidents
⁃ Localization of faults and restoration of operation in case of failures
⁃ DBMS backup and recovery
⁃ Setting up and maintaining replications
⁃ Identifying bottlenecks and optimizing parameters for database operation
⁃ DBMS routine maintenance procedures
⁃ Monitoring and prompt provision of resource availability (analysis of DBMS operation logs, etc.)
⁃ Tuning performance and storage efficiency
⁃ Cooperation with developers and IT specialists
⁃ Records management
It would be a plus to have knowledge and practice of using:
⁃Vitess
⁃ ProxySQL
⁃ MariaDB MaxScale
⁃ HAProxy
⁃ ClickHouse
⁃ Kafka
⁃ Prometheus
⁃NewRelic
⁃ELK
⁃ Kubernetes
What we expect from a DBA:
- Query analysis and optimization (ensure high performance)
- Analysis and optimization of indexes in our databases
- Analysis and elimination of found problems with data duplication
- Optimization / refactoring of table structures / schemas
- Optimization of DBMS settings taking into account the needs of “our” platform
- Analysis of “large” tables and their optimization
- Analyze and organize/optimize effective database backup
- Analyze how we are currently clustering our databases and organize optimization / reconfiguration processes
- Conduct an analysis of how database monitoring is currently provided / if there is a need to make it more effective
- Formation of requirements for the development team - help with the selection of optimal solutions for storing and retrieving data
- Formation of requirements together with the DevOps team - for optimization and improvement of infrastructure (regarding databases)
