To learn more, visit www.publicconsultinggroup.com .Responsibilities The Opportunity PCG’s Education Consulting service line seeks Curriculum Specialists for a project that will support a district to identify and implement opportunities for K-5 cross-curricular integration and for consistent implementation of K-5 interventions . The project provides motivated individuals a unique opportunity to support students, educators, and administrators through a program review of the K-5 English language arts, Science, and Social Studies curricula and interventions for a major school district in the US . Curriculum S pecialist s will engage in curriculum audit activities, the development of intervention implementation guidance , and/or the development and delivery of professional learning content to support implementation of the recommendations. The process will be highly collaborative. Specific responsibilities and skill/experience requirements are detailed below. This is a remote, work-from-home , part-time temporary role starting May 202 4 with an expected duration of 4-6 months , with the potential opportunity for extension .About PCG’s Education Consulting Service LinePCG’s Education Consulting Service Line works with states, districts, and schools to address a wide spectrum of needs such as curriculum development, instructional resources audits, design and facilitation of professional development and professional learning communities, school improvement, and program reviews. Recent p roject engagements have included a collaborat ion with Chicago Public Schools (IL) to develop a full-year, standards-aligned digital curriculum for PK–12 English Language Arts and mathematics . We are providing asynchronous and synchronous professional learning to teachers and administrators to support implementation. We also recently developed a K – 5 ELA curriculum in partnership with Pinellas County Schools and a K – 2 ELA curriculum in partnership with the School District of Lee County to support their transition to the Florida B.E.S.T standards. Currently, w e are partnering with the Texas Education Agency to develop and/or revise several curricula to respond to stakeholder feedback, including K–12 Reading Language Arts, K–6 Spanish Language Arts, K–5 Mathematics, K–5 Social Studies, K–2 Spanish Skills, K–5 Science, and K–5 Integrated (Science, Social Studies, Reading Language Arts).  Additionally, we hav e engaged in the New York City Department of Education Hidden Voices initiative to develop K – 12 English language arts mini-units that center the voices and experiences of Americans with Disabilities, Asian-American Pacific Islanders, and Latinos . The Role Responsibilities and expectations of K – 5 Curriculum Specialists i nclude the following. Participate in a highly collaborative process , which includes regular engagement with team members, peer review, client feedback, and other formative feedback. Review document s and data related to existing curricular resources in K – 5 English language arts, Science, and Social Studies , as well as Tier 2 and 3 interventions. Materials for review may include curriculum guides, yearlong curriculum maps, scope and sequence documents, standards matrix for standards assessed and addressed at each grade level, unit-level overviews, district frameworks, assessment data, and/or guidance/regulations . Apply PCG-specified rubric(s) in reviewing materials. Contribute to the development of a grade - banded scope and sequence for intervention , including the development of a template and models for client review. Contribute to the develop ment of K – 5 knowledge maps . Provide recommendations for opportunities for integration across the English language arts, Science, and Social Studies resources. Contribute to the develop ment of surveys and interview and focus group protocols . Facilitate interview and focus groups (tentative) Provide analysis of survey , interview , and focus group data . Contribute to the creation of professional learning materials for educators and administrators , including a program review presentation and /or sessions to communicate the interventions guidance that will be developed . Deliver on-site professional learning (tentative) Availability during regular work week, with some night or weekend work as needed. Commitment for the duration of the project (anticipated to be 4 – 6 months) with potential opportunity for future work. QualificationsWork Experience Bachelor's degree or higher. E xperience teaching diverse learners in elementary classroom ( s ) , including English Language L earners and students with disabilities. Experience developing curricular resources for use by other s. Experience with Common Core standards and/or college - and career - ready standards. Experience with digital learning instructional design (Prefer red). Familiarity with HMH (Preferred). Familiarity with Google Drive (Preferred). Deeply knowledgeable about high-quality literacy instruction , including principles and practices aligned with the Science of Reading and content area literacy. Knowledgeable about interdisciplinary learning and curriculum integration. Knowledgeable about culturally responsive education. Knowledgeable about educational data and skilled at quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Knowledgeable about tools such as the EQUIP rubric, EdReports , and other tools for assessing instructional materials. Passionate about reading, writing, and a wide variety of types of texts.
