NPO "Southern Development Strategy" (SDS)is looking for a sub-grant coordinator for the office in Mykolaiv with readiness for business trips.

SDS is a national leader in practical recovery. The approach of our organization is the development and piloting of innovative solutions in humanitarian response and development. We implement multidisciplinary projects with UNICEF, World Food Programme, ACTED, Save the Children, Polish Humanitarian Action and many others.

SDS activities concern:

  1. Restoring access to water, heat and gas supply;

  2. Creation of new economic opportunities and food security;

  3. Extraordinary support in kind, in monetary and voucher forms;

  4. Light and medium home repairs;

  5. Legal assistance on issues of housing, land and property;

  6. Support and capacity building of local initiatives and services.

The geography of SDS projects includes 11 regions of Ukraine. The organization has three offices: in Kyiv, Dnipro and Mykolaiv, where more than 140 specialists work.

The sub-grant coordinator will be responsible for the honest selection of local initiatives of the Mykolaiv region for financing and monitoring the fulfillment of the declared obligations by the winners throughout the project cycle. He/she will work under the guidance of the project manager in close cooperation with specialists in finance, procurement, logistics, monitoring and evaluation, communications. The work will require daily interaction with sub-grantees in the region and regular business trips.

Working conditions:

  • Contract with the FOP of the 3rd group or employment under a labor/civil law contract for a period of 22 months with the possibility of extension.

  • Reservation is possible (postponement of conscription for military service) at employment under an employment contract.

  • Remuneration: 54,300 hryvnias (FOP of the 3rd group after payment of a single tax) or 32,900 hryvnias (employment/civil-law contract).

  • Office in the center of the city of Mykolaiv.

  • Constant travel throughout the region.

  • Full employment.

  • Work schedule: from 09:30 to 18:30 with a lunch break.

  • Trial period: 2 months.

Main duties:

  1. Organization competitive selection of projects among local organizations of the Mykolaiv region.
  2. Documentary support for the work of the competition commission.
  3. Finalization of sub-grant documents with the winning organizations before signing (agreement, project proposal, budget, implementation plan-calendar).
  4. Development and implementation of control measures for the timely and full fulfillment by sub-grantees of the terms of the grant agreement and the conditions of participation in projects.
  5. Monitoring of compliance by subgrantees with the procedures and instructions of the organizationanization and the donor.
  6. Monthly collection and verification of narrative and financial reports of subgrantees.
  7. Regular remote and personal communication with subgrantees.
  8. Informing relevant project specialists about identified risks, problems and challenges in the work of subgrantees.
  9. Supporting the team in interaction with partners.
  10. Executing other additional requests for needs.

Qualification requirements:

  • Higher education (management, economics, social sciences, humanities, etc.).

  • Work experience of 2 years or more in public administration, business, local government, public sector, international development or scientific and educational institutions.

  • Experience in accounting is welcome accounting, project management, development of project proposals, budgets and control of indicators.

  • Fluent command of the Ukrainian language and the level of English from B1 (written and oral) for the preparation of reports and communication with donors.

  • Ability to find a common language with people from different social backgrounds experience.

  • A confident user of Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.

  • Responsible attitude to deadlines, procedures and quality of results.

  • Developed emotional intelligence.

  • Willingness to quickly learn new areas and approaches.

  • Personal interest in the topics of community recovery and overcoming consequences war.
