We work in the areas of education, child protection, overcoming child poverty, health care, and also carry out advocacy activities related to the protection of children's rights.

. Under the supervision of the CP\MHPSS Coordinator and with the technical support of the MHPSS Technical Advisor, the MHPSS Officer will support cross-sectoral integration of MHPSS parameters in program delivery in Kharkiv, drawing on evidence-based, psychosocial and multi-level development methods. approach according to global and regional standards. 

The role will involve direct implementation of MHPSS interventions and services, as well as capacity building, training and supervision of child protection, education, health and nutrition staff and partners in Ukraine/Kharkiv. 

The MHPSS Officer will act as the Kharkiv MHPSS Coordinator on the ground and participate in relevant local coordination platforms.  

  The MHPSS employee will receive regular training, support and supervision from appropriate technical advisors.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring systematic integration of MHPSS priorities and interventions in the implementation of the Kharkiv program
  • < li>Establishing close relationships and collaborative models with key stakeholders in the community around MHPSS priorities  
  • Coordinating and supporting implementation of MHPSS or Multidimensional Needs Assessment; provide ongoing assessment/analysis of the local context, priorities and needs related to MHPSS
  • In collaboration with child protection, education and partners, facilitate the identification of the most vulnerable groups of children and carers in the community, and support the development and implementation of appropriate outreach strategies
  • Conduct/update MHPSS service maps, ensure quality screening of potential referral options and create/maintain referral pathways and mechanisms in collaboration with Child Protection, Education, Health and Child Protection teams and partners nutrition
  • Using evidence-based resources as advised by the MHPSS TA, and in collaboration with educational teams and partners, design, plan, coordinate, and adopt implementation of school-based mental health promotion and prevention interventions targeting children , teenagers and guardians.   
  • Using evidence-based resources,as directed by MHPSS TAs, provide training and support to educational teams and partners in integrating key MHPSS dimensions into their practice, including basic care skills, PFA for child practitioners, trauma-informed education, safe identification and referral, paraprofessional counseling, etc.< /li>

    Requirements:< /p>

    • Higher education in Psychology, Social Sciences, Mental Health or related degrees
    • Experience working with children and adolescents, knowledge of child development and mental health of children and adolescents
    • Minimum 2 years of experience working with psychological and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in a humanitarian context, experience working with migrants and refugees is an advantage.  
    • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including team leadership and influencing.  
    • Good written and spoken English communication skills are an advantage.   
    • Comfortable with a high level of ambiguity and able to make independent decisions in a changing context.  
    • Experience working with refugees/marginalized communities preferred.
