We are seeking a highly experienced COBOL Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and documenting the existing COBOL-based system to ensure a smooth transition and integration with modern technologies. This role is pivotal in alleviating the workload of our senior developers who originally built the AS400 solution and are currently guiding the migration project.

Responsibilities:
— Maintain and enhance the existing AS/400 COBOL applications.
— Thoroughly document the current system’s functionality to support the team’s understanding and integration efforts.
— Collaborate closely with the team to ensure accurate implementation of the legacy features.

Qualifications:
— 4+ years of commercial experience as a software developer
— Experience with a COBOL developer
— Strong analytical and documentation skills, with the ability to explain complex systems to non-experts.
— Excellent command of English, with exceptional communication skills.

Project:
Currently, developers are undergoing a strategic migration away from the legacy AS/400 system to a modern, integrated accounting and bookkeeping solution. This new system encompasses various components communicating through messaging, integrating with QuickBooks Desktop, and other third-party collection software.

The team currently includes three senior developers and two juniors. The new hire will help alleviate the workload of two lead developers who are deeply knowledgeable about the original AS/400 system.
