The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading international humanitarian organization whose main objective is to protect, support and promote long-term solutions for victims of population displacement.

DRB has existed in Ukraine since 2014. At the moment, DRB has more than 800 employees working on the territory of Ukraine to implement emergency response in the sectors of social and legal protection, livelihoods, housing reconstruction and humanitarian disarmament and peacebuilding (humanitarian demining), providing direct support to responsible individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as well as their partners. DRB will continue to develop long-term solutions, adapting them to the changing situation.

DRB is currently looking for a highly qualified Leading expert on child rights protection, implemented in the Kherson region (place of work - Mykolaiv). 

General purpose of the role

Under the direction of the Consortium Regional Program Manager for program activities and in close collaboration with other social justice technical specialists, the Lead Specialist will be responsible for technical support, provision of recommendations and monitoring of projects aimed at protecting children's rights. The lead specialist will work with partners from public organizations that implement activities in the field of child rights protection, such as case management for the protection of children's rights, creating child-friendly spaces and providing psychosocial support to children and their guardians, as well as providing support on the integration (mainstreaming) of child rights protection for non-specialized partners.

 About the Consortium for Territorial Distribution of Resources: The program of the Consortium for Territorial Distribution of Resources supports local public organizations in Ukraine, promoting their access to stable and quality financing and helping them scale their activities without having to go through complex bureaucratic procedures. The consortium functions as a funding mechanism that includes due diligence, tendering, disbursement of funds and targeted support during project implementation.  technical evaluation

  • Participation in the technical evaluation of proposals and budgets of social and legal protection projects and ensuring compliance of the proposed measures with recommendations and technical standards in the field of social and legal protection.  style="vertical-align: inherit">Supervision of project implementation

    • Assessing the potential of partners in the field of social and legal protection and developing plans for developing the potential of partner organizations.  dir="auto" style="vertical-align: inherit">Providing capacity development, including training and mentoring, for civil society organizations implementing activities to protect children's rights.  
    • Conducting technicalmonitoring visits and regular meetings with partners who implement measures to protect children's rights.  inherit">Maintaining regular communication with partners regarding current issues, successes and lessons learned in order to provide them with appropriate support for the successful implementation of ongoing activities.

    Representation and external coordination

    • Coordination with colleagues from social and legal protection departments from other Consortium member organizations to ensure consistency of practices and processes.   you:

      To be successful in this position, we expect the candidate to have strong leadership qualities and strategic thinking, as well as solid experience overseeing program activities and interacting with a wide range of stakeholders, preferably in the context of complex humanitarian operations or as part of early intervention activities recovery The candidate must have proven experience of successful work with various partners, the ability to build productive cooperation and ensure compliance with donor requirements. He/she is expected to share an approach focused on local leadership, as well as practical experience in supporting and strengthening the capacity of local organizations through mentoring, technical support or individual support to implement sustainable and effective solutions.

      In addition, we expect you the following:

      Required

      • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the development of children's rights protection programs.
      • Bachelor's degree in international relations, social work, law or other related field.
      • Knowledge and experience in the implementation of programs in the field of child rights protection, including case management in the field of child rights protection, support for unaccompanied children and children who have lost contact with their families, creating child-friendly spaces, as well as providing psychosocial support to children and their guardians.
      • Confirmed experience of working in children's rights protection programs implemented through local partners or in remote management mode.
      • Experience of working with an information management system in the field of children's rights protection (CPIMS+) inherit">Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
      • Proficiency in English at a professional level.

      Desirable

      • Knowledge and experience in developing project proposals in the field of protection of children's rights.
      • Knowledge of data monitoring and evaluation requirements for child protection programs.

      We offer:

      • Contract: a three-month trial period with a further extension of the contract for 11 months subject to successful completion of the trial period.
      • Job level: G is non-managerial.
      • Place of work: Mykolaiv.
      • Date start: as soon as possible.
