The changing nature of the jewelry industry for manufacturers provides numerous challenges within a business operations context that require careful analysis, consideration, and action. § Problem Solving Abilities: Highly skilled at problem identification, solution cultivation, and action plan implementation to effectively address issues as they arise. Some internal areas of the business require updating, re-imaging, or greater support to reach new heights. § Relevant Experience: 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience with a track record of success in operations management, strategic planning, and organizational development. § Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding and experience within jewelry, retail or fashion industry trends, operating environment, and industry leading practices are highly valued § Exceptional Leadership: Ability to inspire, motivate, make difficult decisions, and drive organizational change are required including managing large teams and complex projects. May help to develop future continuity and succession plans. § Financial Acumen: mastery of financial principles and metrics to effectively manage budgets, analyze financial reports, and allowing data to drive decisions for performance optimization. § Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate internal and external collaboration. Daily Responsibilities Operations Management: Overseeing the entire wholesale PAJ operation including key areas of Purchasing, Operations, IT/MIS, Human Resources, and Account/Finance to ensure smooth business operation. May also interact with Sales, Marketing, and Product Development teams. This includes managing supply chain logistics, overseeing the production process (if applicable), ensuring quality control of the jewelry, and managing inventory levels to meet demand without overstocking. Organizational Development: Designing an organizational structure that aligns with the company's strategic objectives, facilitating efficient operation and growth. Overseeing the implementation of the structure to ensure that each department and team understands their role within the broader organization. Implement systems and disciplines that promote effective communication across all levels of the company. Coordinate activities and projects that involve multiple departments. Develop company talent to ensure the greatest levels of satisfaction and results among stakeholders. Strategic Planning and Execution: Working closely with the CEO and other executive team members to define and implement strategic business plans. The COO often translates these strategic plans into actionable operational goals and ensures their execution. Financial Oversight: Collaborating with the finance department to manage the operational budget, control costs, and ensure the financial health of the organization. This might include making decisions on investments in new technology or equipment to improve efficiency or expand capacity. Human Resources Management: Overseeing the HR functions related to operational staff, including hiring, training, and development. Ensuring that the company has the right talent in place to meet its strategic goals and that the workplace culture supports the organization's objectives. Technology and Process Improvement: Leading initiatives to improve operational efficiency through the adoption of new technologies, process improvements, or innovations. This could involve overseeing the implementation of inventory management systems, e-commerce platforms, or customer relationship management (CRM) tools. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensuring the company adheres to industry regulations and standards, including those related to the sourcing and certification of gems and precious metals.
