Since 2001, UIP has provided quality housing that satisfies the most discerning residents and investors.UIP is searching for an energetic, solution-focused, and collaborative Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to head up our corporate accounting and finance functions. The CFO is a key member of the executive leadership and directs the organization’s financial, planning, and accounting practices as well as its relationships with lending institutions, investors, and the financial community. The CFO oversees and directions the accounting functions and team and participates in the firm’s strategic company planning, as directed by the Chief Operating Officer.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a financial infrastructure for a vertically integrated real estate development and management group with four distinct divisions that operate with the efficiency and flexibility to respond to the demands of a growth-oriented real estate investment firmParticipate in acquisitions, work with the Acquisition Teams on financial capitalization strategy, and liaise with investors and financial institutionsOversee the implementation of accounting set-up for new projects, including ground-up mixed-use projects, heavy lift renovations, and stabilized property repositionsOversee and direct treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, long-range forecasting, and insurance activities for the firmCreate, implement, and maintain a plan to ensure compliance with audit and tax expectations of investorsDirect the Controller in providing and directing procedures necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and servicesResponsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting and Development, Property Management, and General Contracting Accounting functions, including billing and accounts receivable monitoring and collections, and accounts payable and vendor remittancesAppraise the firm’s financial position and issues periodic reports on financial stability, liquidity, and growthDirect and coordinate the establishment of budget programsResponsible for accurate and timely financial reporting, as well as interpreting the financial resultsResponsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, analyses, and management reportsOversee monthly work paper generation on both cash and accrual basis and approve accrual entriesGeneral ledger review and maintenanceCoordinate with tax consultants and outside auditorsOversee bank reconciliations, cash projections and treasury managementManage and develop department staffDirect and analyze studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operationsAnalyze operational issues impacting functional groups and the whole institution, and determine their financial impactEvaluate and recommend business partnering opportunitiesEstablish and maintain contacts with financial institutions, investors, and the investment communityTogether with the company’s Principals, participate in strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting.Qualifications And AttributesBachelor’s degree or equivalent, CPA preferredMinimum of 10 years of accounting and financial controllership, preferred CFO experience with a real estate firm, in both residential and commercial propertiesAbility to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints, and communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholdersExpertise in Yardi property management software and QuickBooks, preferredKnowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.Experienced in the preparation of financial statementsWorking knowledge of strategies and concepts to minimize tax burdenExperienced in the preparation of operating statementsAbility to work collaboratively and develop strong partnerships with peers both inside and outside of the companyStrong leadership skills and ability to grow and motivate others and build highly effective teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in persuasive communicationsProven ability to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving atmosphereThe UIP Companies, Inc. is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
