Job Description 

CrossBoundary is recruiting a full-time Associate Principal / Principal to join the Investment Advisory team in Ukraine. As a leader within the team, you will be working on impactful transactions in Ukraine, in addition to building CrossBoundary’s long-term presence in the region.   As an Associate Principal / Principal, you will be tasked with building new client relationships, originating transactions, evaluating investment as well as capital raise opportunities, conducting macroeconomic market assessments, and providing transaction support to both investors and capital seekers. Candidates should have 10+ years of relevant experience working in underserved markets, contacts across the region’s financial services sector, and a thorough understanding of the investment landscape.  

 
Primary Responsibilities 
  • Support CrossBoundary’s work on the USAID Ukraine Harvest Activity, focused on investment advisory in the Ukrainian agricultural sector 

  • Company & transaction identification and evaluation 

  • Identify and rigorously assess investment opportunities 

  • Market assessment and ongoing market analysis 

  • Conduct macroeconomic, regulatory, and operational assessments 

  • Provide sector analysis of priority areas for investment 

  • Investor qualification and relations 

  • Assist in identifying qualified investors 

  • Manage numerous investor relationships 

  • Transaction support 

  • Lead a team in supporting complex transactions 

  • Team support 

  • Mentor junior team members 

  • Lead in-market recruitment  

Qualifications  

  • Experience, knowledge or, strong interest in agribusiness  

  • Ability to source and develop new relationships with CrossBoundary clients and partners, including agribusinesses, banks, technology companies, etc.  

  • Lead interaction with executive management teams of clients and partners  

  • Excellent presentation skills with an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences  

  • Good command of financial modelling, presentations, and familiarity with valuation techniques
  • Excellent analytical ability and discipline; ability to think clearly, structure problems logically, and then design and implement solutions that focus on the core issues  

  • Self-starter who is passionate about creating lasting change in frontier markets  

  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to operate effectively in a changing context  

  • Willingness to work and live in a sometimes-challenging environment  

  • Knowledge of Ukraine investment landscape, with previous work experience in Ukraine / Eastern Europe being viewed favourably 

  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders (including private equity firms, Development Finance Institutions, and development agencies) to support investments in high-impact sectors  

  • Proficiency in Ukraine and English 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Post-graduate degrees (MSc, MBA) and professional certifications (e.g. CFA) encouraged.
