FSD (Fondation Suisse de Deminage) is a non-commercial, apolitical and independent organization of any ideology, religion or nationality. The head office of FSD is located in Geneva, Switzerland.

Purpose of the organization

The main purpose of FSD is to promote demining activities. In general, the totality of the organization's activities is aimed at alleviating and reducing the social, economic and environmental consequences of pollution from land mines and explosive remnants of war on the territory of Ukraine.

Location of the office and place of work:

This position is based in the city of Kharkiv, business trips around Ukraine may also be provided.

Position description:

The assistant medical coordinator of the project is responsible for training and ongoing direct supervision of the project's national medical personnel (rescuers), as well as quality management of their work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 

The main responsibilities include: training of sappers-rescuers of the teams in accordance with the organization's SOPs and conducting training on the evacuation of victims in field conditions. He/she will help manage a team of up to 15 Sapper Rescuers and ensure they are trained and knowledgeable enough to do the job and fully understand their role and job responsibilities. If necessary, for example, in case of illness or annual leave of the team's rescue engineers, the project medical coordinator may be required to replace the team's medical officer to ensure the team's medical care. 

 Candidates must have a full medical education with relevant proven experience in providing care for injuries (in particular, mine and explosive injuries) and a medical qualification recognized in Ukraine. It is desirable to have a driver's license of category B with experience of driving four-wheel drive vehicles, as well as experience in training and managing personnel.

  • Ability to work in a team
  • Previous experience in training, mentoring and supervising staff
  • Ability to effectively accept and follow instructions and instructions
  • Candidates cannot be color blind
  • Physical endurance
  • Reference about medical fitness (certificate from a narcologist)
  • Certificate about psychological health (certificate from a psychiatrist)
  • Certificate from the Ministry of Internal Affairs about the absence of a criminal record

General requirements:

  • Work within the framework of the core values of FSD, promoting the spirit and mission of the organization; especially impartiality and non-political.
  • Work to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization and the program.
  • Participate in meetings and seminars as requested by headquarters in Geneva.
  • Perform any other duties appropriate to the position as required.

General terms and conditions

Term of employment depends on duration of external financing of projects in Ukraine. The minimum period of work is 6 months with the possibility of extension.
