Requirements for candidates:

  • Higher education in the field of jurisprudence or in the field of social, political sciences, project studies, international relations, or relevant work experience related to the organization of advocacy
  • From 2-3 years of practical experience in the field of social development, child or human rights protection in the NGO sector, the UN, the EU, or other similar experience.
  • Experience in the field of social protection of children will be an advantage.
  • Previous effective experience in the development and implementation of advocacy work (planning advocacy activities, conducting campaigns), mainly in the field of children’s rights, family support, social development order.
  • Knowledge in the field of social security and child protection (experience in deinstitutionalization processes will be an advantage), children's rights and the monitoring system of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  • Knowledge of the basics of public-private partnership will be an advantage. Understanding the powers of central authorities, local self-government bodies.
  • Understanding the content of the decentralization reform.
  • Understanding the goals and objectives of the Strategy for Ensuring the Right of Every Child to Grow in a Family Environment (Deinstitutionalization).
  • Skills for drafting analytical reports, advocacy statements.
  • Oral and written literacy, including understanding the ethics of business communication i design of official letters, in particular in the format of appeals, requests for public information, etc.
  • Effective communication and skills of establishing new connections.
  • Skills of information and knowledge management (exchange of best practices).
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language (spoken and written).
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Readiness to business trips.
  • Multi-tasking and willingness to work effectively under tight deadlines.

Main duties:

  • Planning of advocacy activities in accordance with the SOS strategy, its coordination, launch and support of individual advocacy campaigns on protection issues of the rights of the child;
  • Establishing cooperation, ensuring communication and coordinating work with representatives of the authorities at the state and community levels;
  • Performance of regular monitoring and analysis of the situation in the field of protection of children's rights according to the directions of work of the Ministry of Education and Culture,making proposals regarding the necessary changes to legislative acts;
  • Organization of advocacy and information events of SOS DM at various venues at the national and local levels;
  • Preparation of public appeals, statements, analytical reports, participation in the development of visual materials, as well as providing information for program reports of SOS DM;
  • Propose strategic goals, tasks, actions and budgets for the advocacy work of the organization, and include the main advocacy actions and projects in the national plan of the organization;
  • Representation of the organization at external conferences, working groups and networks, and meetings at the invitation of employees from advocacy of the International Office;
  • Organization and conduct of advocacy trainings and other methodical advocacy work;
  • Functional management of specialists in advocacy of SOS Children's Towns projects;
  • Participation in development of SOS projects for Children's Towns in terms of proposals for content, goals, tasks, activities and indicators of advocacy activities;
  • Participation in drawing up TORs, selection of experts, to perform advocacy tasks of SOS projects for Children's Towns, participation in processing and providing feedback on the content, conclusions, recommendations of experts involved in implementation advocacy tasks of Children's Villages SOS projects;
  • Preparation of information for reports, information sheets for donors, etc.
  • Document best practices of advocacy activities;
  • Make your contribution and provide feedback communication regarding internal advocacy tools, policies, recommendations at the request of International Office advocacy staff.
